Same Thing Different Words

Ever heard someone say what you say, but in a different way?

How’d it feel?

Some might feel threatened, because they thought their thoughts were original.

Some rejoice because it validates their thinking and belief system.

For me, it’s the latter.

Click here to go to Brian K. Rice, and his LeadershipConnextions blog. Brian quotes some of Gail Sheehy’s thoughts on Mid Life.

The purpose here today is simple – provide you with links, offering the same thing using different words.

PS. Tomorrow, we’ll revisit yesterday’s question.

Despair Is The Price

“Despair is the price one pays for setting oneself an impossible aim”.Graham Greene

Wow. Then what does it mean, “If your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough”?

Simply this:  You can set the bar low and reach a goal, and then wonder if you could have done better, eventually living with a certain degree of regret for not trying harder.

Or, you can set the bar impossibly high, give it your absolute best, fail, yet live with the satisfaction and peace that you left nothing on the table.

There are no guarantees in life.  But you already knew that, right?

Mid LIfe Mission Statement

Here’s a free resource for developing your Mid Life Mission statement

In my 50 years on Earth, I’ve asked thousands of people what the meaning of life is.  Seriously, I have.  And still do.

Know what the most common response is?

Surprise?

Second most common response?

Guilt.

I’ll bet right now that 99% of you reading this don’t have an answer that rolls of the tip of your tongue.

And the one percent that does have an answer, or thinks they have an answer – their answer will be so unprepared that you and I would find it difficult to clearly understand.

That is why, if you want to leave a legacy for the important people you love, I highly recommend you consider creating some concise, and inspiring,  answer to life’s big question.

Carpe diem, your humble servant, jeff noel  🙂

Mid Life Thursday?

Mid Life Thursday?  Seems like it surely must be so.

Here’s a good one:

“How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong.  Because someday in life, you will have been all of these”.  — George Washington Carver

It finally hit many years ago that this is absolutely true.  It’s very hard to imagine, even absurd, that I didn’t have a clue about this reality, for most of my life.

Just another reason why I love this Mid Life Celebration so much.

Only 25 days until I celebrate 50 years on our planet.  Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂

Mid Life Tuesday?

Mid Life Tuesday?  Seems so.

Here’s a thought to get us going:

“The greatness of a nation and it’s moral progress can be judged by the way it’s animals are treated”.  — Ghandi

My goal in life is to become the kind of person my Dog thinks I am.  For real!

So, it’s an incredible wake up call everyday, when I’m filled with choices, to try and find the courage, strength and especially wisdom, to know what to do and when to do it.

I hope I can make my Dog even prouder than he already is.

Make it a GREAT midlife Tuesday, because if you don’t, who will?  If not today, when?  Carpe diem, jeff 🙂
