Everybody thinks they’re the good guy

Dear Son, you have heard me say that the three tools of my trade are:

  1. common sense
  2. paradox
  3. questions

Here is a woman who uses paradox and it stopped me in my tracks because of it’s power.

She revealed the paradox with a statement, “Everybody believes they are the good guy”.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

You should hate it more

Only a few apps on iPhone home screen

(photo: How many apps we have is a decent indicator to many other things… simplicity is the ultimate sophistication)

You don’t hate it enough.

Hate smoking enough and you’ll quit.

Hate being overweight enough and you’ll quit being overweight.

Hate feeling alone enough and you’ll quit feeling alone.

Hate being in debt enough and you’ll get out of debt.

Hate relying on alcohol enough and you’ll quit drinking alcohol.

Hell yeah these are bold statements.

You know how it’s possible to absolutely know?

Will give you one guess.

No theory at Mid Life Celebration.

Ever.

Mid Life Words

Nothing Under Mid Life
Nothing Under Mid Life

Are you getting this? Mid Life Crisis versus Mid Life Celebration.

These are simply mid life words, but the difference between the two sets of words is as profound as the difference here:

  • Hate and Love
  • War and Peace
  • Terrorist and Missionary
  • Dishonest and Honest
  • Criminal and Saint
  • Death and Life
  • Apathy and Passion
  • Crisis and Celebration

Have I told you lately how much joy it brings to know there are others out there who benefit as much from Mid Life Celebration as I do?

Three days away from New Year’s Eve. Got big plans for 2010?

Mid Life Drug Confession?

Is Andre Agassi in midlife celebration mode?  Maybe.

About a week ago, in a rare moment (watching TV), I saw Katie Couric interview Andre Agassi on 60 Minutes.

Okay, so one of the greatest American Tennis stars had a drug problem. And no one knew about it.

And to top it off, the number one Tennis player in the world hated Tennis. And no one knew about that either. How is that possible?

Whatever and however Andre Agassi’s story played out, it’s being told now in his new book, “Open“.

Andre Agassi is 39 years old.  A perfect age to in a mid life celebration. Do you think Andre is thankful?  I mean, how could you not be thankful that you’ve had a mid life drug confession?

Maybe he has a new drug.  A drug called thankfulness.
