Mid Life Grandparent?

Mid Life Sunday.  Ain’t it great to be alive.  I know I said that yesterday, but how can I not say it again?

Seriously!  It ought to be said every single day.  And if you’re a mid-life Grandparent, how lucky are you?

If our son waits as long as we did to have children, we’ll be 84.  No male on my Dad’s side has made it past 60.

I live everyday as a Parent, of course.  And, what I decided after our son was born, was to also live everyday as a Grandparent.

Why?

Because I may never get the official privilege.  Seriously.  Ya with me?

Grandparents enter a stage in life, a season if you will, where withdrawing from life’s responsibilities and putting up their feet, almost seems like a rite of passage.  A final gift to take it easy, before they die.

Theoretically, retirees have more time and more money to invest in whatever they want to.

What if they invested it on the less fortunate, the needy, the overlooked, the sick, the weak?

Or at the very least, their Grandchildren.

It’s such a privilege to get older.  Tomorrow, when many observe our national holiday, Memorial Day, we might pause for a few moments of silence and thank those who never made it to old age, because they made the ultimate sacrifice, so we could.

Make it a GREAT day!  jeff noel  🙂

Mid Life Blogging is easy and it’s hard

Mid Life blogging is easy and it’s hard.

Easy because you can choose to do whatever you want.  You’re the boss.

Hard because you may not achieve your goal.  Assuming you had a goal in mind that led you to blog, not reaching it could be a huge disappointment.

I hope you don’t give up.

Whether you are blogging at mid-life, or getting in shape at mid-life, or even mending some important relationship at mid-life, may you find the strength and courage to keep going.

Life is hard, that’s the conversation I had today with our eight-year old son.

But at eight, it’s really hard to comprehend.

At mid-life, we could all write a book, eh?

You know, I was actually thinking about a comment a speaker made in February at the National Speaker’s Association Winter Conference, here in my “backyard” – Walt Disney World.

He said, “Don’t die with a book in you“.

Words to live by.

And a hard decision to make on what to do with a comment like that.

Good luck and carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂

Mid Life and the art of Carpe Diem

Mid Life and the art of Carpe Diem.

How does one, while in mid-life, seize the day?

For me, it’s a constant, never-ending focus on being present.

I can hear a few people thinking, “OK Einstein, how do you do that“?

Again, it’s a habit of trying to always be present.

Like Tiger Woods told me last year, to be world class in anything, you have to “Out work ’em”!

Each day I try to be better than I was the day before.  And at the very least, no loss – at least maintain the level from the day before.

No rules for mid-life success will work unless you do.  Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂

Social Media and Mid Life Business Blogging?

Mid Life Business Blogging and Social Media?

Social Media is so exciting to me.

Why?

Because of it’s limitless potential.

Here’s an article, Five Social Media Rules of Engagement , with a few common sense, social media guidelines.  There are plenty of other social media and social networking articles at this site www.ploked.com  .

I’m going to add a PAGE in the right column for links to other social media and social marketing articles I find.

I already have a list started on another blog PAGE, entitled Better Business Blogging 101 .

While originally targeted to Baby Boomers and Gen X-ers, it’s usefulness and relevance may work for many others.

There’s never been a better time to be going through a mid-life crisis or mid life celebration than 2009.

Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂
