Your most perfect day

Last night, up on the roof again. Thankful to be fit enough to easily get to the top of the two-story home.

Your most perfect day.

Is it Thanksgiving?

Trick question.

In my head, every day is Thanksgiving.

And every day is the perfect day (to be alive).

And you?

The perfect employee starts with someone who has this

How to draw Mickey Mouse
The perfect employee is an artist. Artists do things better or differently then others who offer the same thing.

(Note, remember, we are talking about perfect. Perfect is a tall order.)

The perfect employee starts with someone who has this…

The criteria for the perfect employee would begin with an amazingly positive attitude. Not in a delusional way, but in a way that doesn’t accept obstacles or challenges as permanent. They see everything as an opportunity or a challenge, and never as a “problem”.

The perfect employee would also be a model of physical wellness. Someone who regularly exercises, eats well, rests well, and is a wellspring of energy and enthusiasm.

The perfect employee would have an unbreakable spiritual belief. What they choose is irrelevant. But whatever it is, it is the epicenter of their emotional wellbeing. They radiate good, decent, and noble thoughts and actions. They live to serve others.

The perfect employee is an inspirational leader who has mastered the technical, managerial, and behavioral aspects of their domain. They balance employee, customer, and business as if the three were only one. Not only are they an expert, they are also a game changer, a category of one.

The perfect employee is exceptionally organized, focused, and disciplined. They are intentional with all they do. Their home is a haven for peace, order, and purpose. They have space in their schedule to plan for, and handle, life’s unexpected challenges.

Timing Can Be Freaky, Like Yesterday

How’s your timing, the interviewer will ask, if you are seeking to be a comic. But what about daily living, the whole carpe diem thing? Yesterday was another convincing win for “the harder you work, the luckier you get”.

We started with gathering big fuel for the campfire.

Loose sand makes climbing very challenging.

Success at the 40 foot summit.

Fairly little writing was done yesterday, but we did a ton of things worth writing about later, even though we never got more than a mile from home. Two buddies for a sleepover, a great home-cooked meal. But we did miss out on smores by the campfire…

Mid Life Change Eh?

“To be human is to change.  To be perfect is to change often.” Henry Newman

Heard this last Sunday at Church.  It resonated. I immediately wrote it down, because it reminds me what I’m trying to say at Mid Life Celebration.

Mid Life Celebration, or as some say, mid life crisis, is a time to:

  1. Rethink
  2. Reprioritize
  3. Recommit

The above three also happen to be the tag line here at Mid Life Celebration, which is two years old now.

That’s all it is. Do those three. And then start the process over again.

PS.  The domain name is two years old, but I’ve been using the phrase in a variety of ways for 11 years, since my mid life crisis celebration began.
