Us and our future. Who’s in charge of granting us permission to break free from conformity and live like we mean it?

Better to just follow the template handed down to you?

The one that promises freedom to retire when you reach a milestone age and then you can live the American dream.

Just stay on the path long enough and you’ll eventually make it all the way to the front of the line.

You’ll be next. It will be your turn to enjoy the good life of retirement.

Right?

Time flies and we use this notion as an alibi.

Someday we’ll get it all together and live a really decent life.

But for now, we have to go. Only ten days until Christmas.

Our best alibi is a terrorist.

It has been incredibly interesting to be in charge of everything.

As CEO of your own small business, you can do anything you want.

This is a blessing and a curse.

You might sink your ship. You might discover new shores.

Bottomline, it humbles you in learning why so many people do, or don’t do, the things they do.

Survival.

And if you manage to survive, greed comes a calling asking you to cut corners, take short cuts, exaggerate.

But then you remember the brand you are building – and none of those are even remotely acceptable.

Less than three weeks for a one-year experiment to conclude.

Grueling.

Tiring.

Revealing.

There are books in progress that will raise Mid Life Celebration’s public profile.

A goal so ridiculously big that fame is worth the risk. -jn

Remember, none of these words for a year: I, me, mine, my.

Why?

Because for a prolific writer to not use them is impossible.

PS. Not even in emails, social media updates and comments. Insanely difficult. Ludicrous.
