Final 120 Days

Happy birthday Disneyland, but more importantly…

Happy birthday Disneyland, but more importantly…

Today we retire a 15-year daily after-school tradition.

Hugging and sharing an “I love you” before getting in the car to leave school.

It was a great run.

Not sorry to see it go, so grateful we kept it alive all these years.

Thank you for never feeling self-conscious, especially in Middle and High School.

Note: No school bus service and no teenager car created a drop-off and pickup routine for our son’s entire life up to and including today.

The ticking clock doesn’t care about your happiness

jeff noel home office
Working from any where at any time, and on any day makes it easy to work all day and into the night. Take last night for example.

The ticking clock doesn’t care about your happiness. Why would it? It’s challenging to accept the fact that no one else can care for your ticking clock the way you should be caring. Why? Because everyone else is knee-deep in life as well, struggling to manage the day-to-day onslaught of distractions, obstacles, and unexpected pressures while trying to balance mind, body, spirit, work, and home.

My clock is ticking too.

One small example…

We started the daily tradition of an after-school hug, kiss, and “I love you” in January 2003.

There are 60 days of after-school hugs remaining.

And then there will never be anymore daily after-school hugs. Sixteen years of tradition will have its final moment on May 24, 2019.

Decide what you want to be mentally

Disney Customer Service speakers
Going the extra mile is a flawed proposition. i’m the first Customer Service ‘guru’ to call this out. The extra mile is outdated and misleading.

Decide what you want to be mentally.

Holding on to tradition – and what your environment as you grew up has dealt you – may be perceived as strength.

Letting go of the herd mentality (tradition) may be strength.

There’s only one way to know.

What stops any of us?

Disney Speakers office
Reminds me how different this office looked a year ago. Photo from my office yesterday.

What stops any of us from living like every day is Thanksgiving?

The media?

Tradition?

What then?

PS. Happy (official) Thanksgiving Day.

Just follow the template handed down to you

Orlando Professional Keynote Speakers

(photo: Orlando sky writer yesterday.)

Us and our future. Who’s in charge of granting us permission to break free from conformity and live like we mean it?

Better to just follow the template handed down to you?

The one that promises freedom to retire when you reach a milestone age and then you can live the American dream.

Just stay on the path long enough and you’ll eventually make it all the way to the front of the line.

You’ll be next. It will be your turn to enjoy the good life of retirement.

Right?
