Midlife Passion Milestone?

What prompts us recognize a milestone? What milestones are worthy of celebratory significance? How do we avoid sounding boastful?

Some things, like births and deaths, are major milestones we mark by recalling them each year. Some with celebration. Some with sorrow.

Today is a bit of both.

My Dad, Jack Noel, left his earthly life April 10, 2001.

He and our son never met.  A summer trip home had been planned for June, but it was too late.

I learned a lot from my Dad, by what he did and didn’t do, but not from what he said.  We didn’t talk much. Conversation between us was challenging.

Come to find out, I have so much to say that today marks the 2,000th blog post at Mid Life Celebration, LLC.

Five daily blogs. One midlife passion prescription.

Hey Dad, how’s Carter doing up there? 🙂 Miss you both.

Midlife Passion Prescription?

Is Your In-Box Overflowing?
Is Your In-Box Overflowing?

Email.  A midlife prescription for passion?

Can’t live with it.  Can’t live without it.

A necessary evil.

Our lifeline to the world.

Overwhelming in-box?

Spam.  Potential virus-carrying attachments.

Long-lost friends reconnected.  Joy.

What gives us passion in midlife?

We can be fairly confident it ain’t email.

He Asked Me This

Dad's Flag, Son's Hat
Dad's Flag, Son's Hat

Got a Tweet the other day, plus an email.

Okay, not earth-shattering news.

But.

But they were from the same person.

So.

So he had a question he wanted to ask me.

(Again) So.

He wants to meet with me to ask it.

Not sure why a retweet or direct message, or even an email response wouldn’t satisfy his curiosity.

Anyway, we hope to meet later next week, so I can answer this, “What inspires you to write five daily blogs?”

This Is New

Returning Visitors, this post will remain the first thing you see, for a week or so. You can still trust that I’m posting here every single day. Just scroll down for today’s post. Thanks.

Top Right Link Will Always Lead You
Top Right Link Will Always Lead You

It is now amazingly easy to click through all five daily blogs, without having to think or remember which order or how many you’ve already visited.

Simply click the top link under Blogroll, on the upper right-hand column. It automatically advances you.

Ever heard these phrases?:

  • Never get bored with the basics
  • It’s common sense, but not common practice
  • The road to excellence has no finish line

On a friend’s suggestion, I’ve simplified navigation between the five daily blogs.

It’s basic, it’s common sense, and just one more simple improvement.

It reminds me of mid life.

January Will Be Simplicity

Happy New Year’s Eve, the biggest drinking day of the year, in the entire world.

What will your New Year’s (or whatever date you use) Resolution be for 2010?

How did you do with the one(s) you made in 2009?

If you are curious enough or smart enough to pay attention, you can learn a lot from what I share. But like anything where excellence is a goal, the focus has to be constant.

Not everyone can keep up. That’s just the law of nature. There’s only a certain type that has that focus and discipline. What type are you?

Looking back to my 2009 resolution to start an Internet-based business, here are some numbers, mostly for posterity (and certainly not to boast):

  • 20 – 2008 Mid Life Celebration blog posts
  • 312 – 2009 Mid Life Celebration blog posts

Humongous difference, eh?

Why? Because of:

  1. Passion
  2. Purpose
  3. Focus
  4. Discipline
  5. Resolve
