Fighting for survival severely strains thriving.

In our exhaustion from the daily grind, an opportunity presents itself everyday. Except it’s probably invisible to most of us. Maybe the decently self-aware person doesn’t miss it. Who knows for sure?

If no one is immune from life’s demands, how do some seem to make the obvious first choice?

Survive or thrive.

Pick.

All are eligible to thrive.

All of us?

It would certainly seem so.

We should never judge others on their perceived luck or privilege. This would certainly start looking like an excuse. Denial. We don’t need any more of that in our life.

But it sure beats trying to do the challenging work of learning how to thrive despite the hell we all go through.

The anniversary of the most magnificent day in our life

How did we spend yesterday?

How often do we take inventory of the day before?

Yesterday, the 55th anniversary of that first breath… spent the day doing the normal things.

Simple things.

Routine things.

Joy-filled things.

Life-giving things.

Since (becoming a dad in) 2000 (age 41), just cannot fathom the idea of having to wait for a holiday, anniversary, milestone, etc to celebrate a single day.

Among other things, finished watching the two-hour Apple 2014 WWDC video.

The first three minutes are not available yet on You Tube, hence the 2013 version above.

Live like you mean it.

Today.

Or we could wait until tomorrow.

Your move.

Keener

Arizona vanity license plate

Work van in parking lot
Random parking lot photo of random van. Keener?

The front table of students were writing notes and the class had not yet begun. The teacher struck up a conversation since she had never met the students before – their enthusiasm was intriguing.

They proclaimed they were all ‘Keeners’.

What’s a Keener?

The student’s use of the word keener is perfect.

Turns out the whole room was.

A teacher’s dream come true.

And yes, proof that attitude is everything.

Three choices in every situation

Magic Band accessories
Wish there was a magic band or magic wand, but ultimately the CEO has to deal with this.

We make ourselves a victim when we complain.

Three choices in every situation:

  1. leave
  2. change
  3. accept

Anything else is childish.

Have been observing for years a public figure who has slowly poisoned their attitude beyond anything that is acceptable.

Time to walk away.

Guilt-free 180.
