Does the way we start our day have a direct impact

Walkway to magic Kingdom sign
Disney Keynote Speaker jeff noel’s hometown is pedestrian friendly.

Does the way we start our day have a direct impact on our ability to excel?

Duh.

Focus and discipline shape our attitude. We know this. But do we champion the cause?

Do we?

Honestly?

Do we overmanage daily details that others either undermanage or ignore?

Do we?

Are we being intentional where others are unintentional?

Are we?

The woman asked the recent retiree, “Are you allowed to talk about Disney?”

He replied, “Not going to be talking about Disney. Going to be talking about my career, and life. You know, lessons learned, wisdom gained, joyful and painful experiences, people, challenges, triumphs, etc. Coincidently, the past 30 years have been spent at Disney.”

Authentic and pure

Disney Institute Keynote Speaker
His last leader at Disney labeled him a zealot.

Internal scripts and conversations we have with ourselves can influence our beliefs into something that isn’t true.

A great friend, Dennis, says things only become sayings or cliches if they are true.

You cannot be a prophet in your hometown.

It is not the world that frightens him. It’s his friends.

Like most, he has held back on his dreams his entire life because of the negative scripts, even though he could easily be mistaken for being bold and inspired.

It’s killing him because he struggles to overcome what should be easy to overcome:

Fear

He will figure it out, but probably not today.

It really comes down to this mini-epiphany:

Is it fear or humility holding him back?

Maybe it’s the fear of not appearing humble.

Classic wish: to do life over knowing what we now know

Dry ice in water science experiment
Last night’s middle school science open house.

Ever wish you could magically do your life over, knowing what you know now?

While it sounds inspiring and aspirational on the surface, deep down it’s never gonna happen. There is no secret formula. We do not have the ability to be reborn as a baby, knowing what we know now.

However, and this is a huge however, we (unquestionably) do have the ability to be reborn knowing what we know now. It’s called Mid Life Celebration.

It’s what you’ve always told yourself you’ve wanted and it’s right in front of you.

Your move.

Out of the midlife ashes, hope rises

Hyatt Grand Cypress Resort near Walt Disney World

(photo: The Hyatt, built 1984, was here when we (the person below) met in 1990, but State Road 535 was still a little two lane country road.)

Yesterday morning a social media note:

Good morning! I wanted to tell you that I am re-reading your book. Reading slowly this time. I value it so differently this time. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Asked a few questions and in reply:

I truly have tears in my eyes right now. I was not in a good place when I read it the first time and I knew you were telling me something but I just wasnt getting it. I was resisting change. I now have the strength to appreciate it. Thriving not survivng. I am so thankful that I knew you because I hear your voice speaking to me when I read it. Stuck on pages 7 and 14!

At the end of the day, the book leans towards being a kick in the ass butt. And we all need that a few times in life.
