Disney Cast are committed to continuously improving

i tell people in my speeches that Disney Cast Members are never satisfied. It’s a challenging concept for “outsiders” to grasp the profound beauty (and sheer magnitude) of this.

Bottomline, every (with few exceptions) Cast Member is committed to continuously improving the Guest experience (and the Cast and Business/Financial experience). It’s a deeply engrained part of Disney culture.

Disney habits.

Disney has taken the parking garage experience to a brand new level.

There are sensors above every parking space.

This provides real-time communication to arriving Guests on what level (even down to the row) they can expect to find a parking space.

Of course this is a huge “Wow!”.

And i can’t help but wonder if people in mid-life could get to a place where they are never satisfied – with improving their own personal well being. At Disney this is called “Internal Customer Service”.

Overwhelmed with gratitude?

Delivering Food For Families
Yesterday was the 16th year of this Thanksgiving morning tradition.

Delivering Food For Families
After receiving the addresses for which you will deliver to, you pull up to load two boxes per family.

Delivering Food For Families
Like many other marketing campaigns, it’s difficult to reach enough people.

Overwhelmed with gratitude?

How can anyone not be?

Official American holidays like yesterday’s Thanksgiving Day are great reminders to be thankful for all that we have.

And then my brain wonders (and wanders) and i quietly ponder this, “Why do we need official, National reminders?”

Let’s dissect this May 2010 photograph

Let’s dissect this May 2010 photograph.

The original vision for writing a book happened in 1979, as a college Junior.

Started the process for gathering the content to write a book during Fall 2009. Yes, that’s really 30 years later.

The storyboard pictured above completed by Spring 2010.

The book was written Summer 2013.

Only three people knew the book had been completed:

me • our son (13) • the publisher

The first copy went to Cheryl on Thanksgiving morning 2013. She was clueless that it had been finished and was astonished to learn it was actually available on Amazon.

About an hour or two later, i announced to the world (Family/Friends/Colleagues) that the book (and Kindle version) was now available on Amazon.

Not sure if i want to count down each of the next 28 days

Ever have a “How is this possible?” moment that coincides with another life milestone?

Not sure if i want to count down each of the next 28 days as this goes live (or, 128 days from now – as this is written). In 28 days i begin year eight of writing five daily, differently-themed blogs.

You get that what i’m writing today (Wednesday, November 25, 2015) stays in a to-be-published que for 100 days. What that means is tomorrow is Thanksgiving – and two years ago on Thanksgiving my first book was announced to the world.

Publishing a book on Amazon (and Kindle) was a stunning (and humble) accomplishment.

Writing began, and continues, one single, solitary day at a time

Apple Watch Mickey Mouse screen shot
So unimportant to call out a single, ordinary day – yesterday was Monday, November 23, 2015.

Dear Son, i often end emails and social media private messages with this challenge, “Be amazed and be amazing.”

At the completion of the first day of a self-imposed 100-day writing challenge which began April Fools Day 2009, i had five blog posts. On April 2 i wrote five more. That’s how it all began. And that’s how it continues – one single, solitary day at a time.

Believe it or not, i was amazed that i actually did what i said i was gonna do. That’s the surest way to be amazed and be amazing.
