Monday, Monday

Grinnell Glacier trail, Summer 2019…transition from one Magic Kingdom to another…December 2, 2019.
Last night at Disney’s Celebrate You Cast recognition party. Look closely at Cinderella Castle’s front doorway.

Monday, Monday.

Just another day in paradise as they say.

The drive to Disney parking took less than 10 minutes.

The walk from parking to the shuttle took less than 30 seconds.

The ride from the shuttle location to backstage Magic Kingdom was 400 meters, tops.

The walk to onstage after stepping off the shuttle was 30 meters, with immediate Cinderella Castle view.

Monday, Monday, thanks for everything.

Happy Disney hire date anniversary

Walt Disney by Sleeping Beauty Castle
They say the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree, whatever that means.

A little riff about being in a few places at the same time.

As i write this, good morning from November 25, 2019, a Monday. It’s January 25, 2020 as this post publishes – Happy Saturday.

And, Happy January 25, 1982. It was a Monday and my day began in a Disney University classroom learning Disney Traditions, at the time a three-day Disney new-hire orientation.

First day as an official hire.

Walt Disney World.

Attractions Host.

CT – Casual Temporary (Disney-speak for seasonal part time Cast Member).

Adventureland.

Skipper.

World-famous Jungle Cruise.

Starting pay was about $2.35 an hour.

Improvisation is key as a Disney leader

Disney Keynote Speakers
Yesterday. It was a cold morning at home. Hat, gloves, many layers.

Disney Keynote Speakers
Removed the cap for the video recorded portion of the visit.

Rode a bicycle to Magic Kingdom at 7:30AM yesterday to film a two-minute video for a client.

When i travel, like i did last week, the Disney Passes in my wallet come out, to travel lighter.

Forgot to put them back in and wasn’t able to enter Magic Kingdom.

What to do?

Walk over and climb the stairs to Disney’s Contemporary Resort observation deck.

Make the most of the hand you are dealt.

It was fun.

And i’m reminded what a privilege it is to enter Magic Kingdom anytime i want.

Disney Cast are committed to continuously improving

Disney Springs restaurants
Lunch at Splitsville with Family and the first time using new Disney Springs parking garage (middle left edge).

i tell people in my speeches that Disney Cast Members are never satisfied. It’s a challenging concept for “outsiders” to grasp the profound beauty (and sheer magnitude) of this.

Bottomline, every (with few exceptions) Cast Member is committed to continuously improving the Guest experience (and the Cast and Business/Financial experience). It’s a deeply engrained part of Disney culture.

Disney habits.

Disney has taken the parking garage experience to a brand new level.

There are sensors above every parking space.

This provides real-time communication to arriving Guests on what level (even down to the row) they can expect to find a parking space.

Of course this is a huge “Wow!”.

And i can’t help but wonder if people in mid-life could get to a place where they are never satisfied – with improving their own personal well being. At Disney this is called “Internal Customer Service”.
