Over-focus is the ultimate habit

Disney Keynote speaker
Tradition when leaving Glacier to return to Disney calls for one last photo in Apgar from the shore of Lake McDonald. A present reminder (one of hundreds or thousands) that there’s a remote possibility this is the last trip ever.

It is impossible to overstate the importance of this particular action:

Over focus on the things you use to under focus on or ignore.

Strip away all the non-essentials.

Learn to be intentional where you used to be unintentional.

There, you will begin your journey toward peace and contentment.

We rarely see it coming

Seating for 264. Thirteen of us watched the movie on opening day.

We rarely see it coming.

What?

Transformation or stagnation.

He who is not busy being born is busy dying.

Decade solstice?

Sunrise at 7:11 AM today. Photo: approximately 7:00 AM today.

Here’s an intriguing excerpt from a daily business email recapping the hottest news…

Insigniam, a consulting firm, founder Shideh Bina wrote this “response”:

More than any decade I can recall (in the six I have lived through), the next decade will be defined by how well we, as leaders, and as citizens, respond to challenges and threats to our foundational beliefs, structures and institutions. Will we respond with wisdom, courage, accountability and creativity to our climate, our political storms, our vast inequities, our soon-to-be obsolete skills base and our deeply engrained biases about each other and about how things “ought to be”? If we respond well we can turn these threats into glorious, transformative opportunities. If not, we will preside over tragedy. The transformation required to prevail also requires a transformation of ourselves as leaders and how we think and act. The decade has not been written, the pen is our hands.

Shideh Bina

Personal vibrancy and personal transformation begins when we convince ourselves that balance is not a myth.

Wellness whiplash

As a general rule, everything takes longer than expected. If Disney Ran Your Life podcast is no exception.

Wellness whiplash is when we regularly apply decent focus and discipline, but cave during the holidays, or anytime, when our stress is peaking.

A key insight is knowing there will always be stressful life situations. Some are predictable and others surprise us.

Personal vibrancy, in layperson’s terms, balance, is the key to defending everything you’ve worked for and everything you hope to maintain and grow.

Loving how If Disney Ran Your Life podcast is evolving and becoming a wise and self-directed resource for people on a journey to control the controllable and let go of the uncontrollable – and of course, the wisdom to tell them apart.

Balance is not a myth

Recording If Disney Ran Your Life yesterday at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

Balance is not a myth.

Living like it is a myth – think about how low we set our bar for accomplishing personal vibrancy.

Scary.

But since “everyone’s doing it”, it can’t be that bad, right?
