I Can Name That Song In

Hard To Pick Just One
Hard To Pick Just One

First thing on the list today, inspired by the Third Day song I’m currently listening to:

  1. THANK YOU Mid Life Celebration readers for visiting

It’s simply joyful to know that so many people visit each day. Your visits humble me, inspire me.

Second thing on the list: If a movie was made of your life, what song would be featured?

If it’s easier, what top two or three songs? Hard to pick just one.

  1. Jeff,

The song that comes to mind is a song from Bruce Carroll’s 1991 “Sometimes Miracles Hide” album. The song is called “I Know Where I Stand.” The lyrics are as follows:

    “I Know Where I Stand”

Just like an actor, unsure of my lines,
I lived my life for other people, one lie at a time.
Desperate for approval, always tryin’ to look good,
Never sure of who I was or where I stood.
Till You came into my heart, and exposed me with Your light,
Till You touched me with Your love, and You healed me with Your life.

    Chorus
I know where I stand, strong and secure,
I finally know who I am, I’m myself and I’m Yours.
Gonna stand on Your promise, I always stand tall,
Even when I fall, I know where I stand.

So good to be real now, to know and be known,
Resting in Your perfect love, my heart is finally home.
Completely forgiven of all that I’ve done,
Now I’m living my life for an audience of one.
Finally sure of who I am, and I’m sure of who I’m not,
The insecurity is gone, because I live on the Rock.

    Repeat Chorus

I no longer live my life by what other people say,
But I only live for You, ’cause Your love will never change.
And though people let me down, You’ll never turn away,
No You’ll never turn away, that’s why

  2. Bless the Broken Road (not sure of official name) by Rascal Flatts. Actually kind of a cliche answer. But the song says a lot & it doesn’t necessarily have to be intended towards a person.

  3. Bob, awesome lyrics. I read them carefully and felt like I could have been the one writing that song.
Thank you for taking this exercise seriously. It takes a fair amount of time to go to the extra effort to share the lyrics.
By the way, I’m attempting to see if this effort reply will post on the blog comments, and (hopefully) send you an email with the exact same comments. Please advise when you have time. Thanks. jeff 🙂

  4. Craig, love Rascal Flatts song you picked as your movie’s feature song.
I really (really, really) struggled with this one.
Don’t forget to check the oil…(road trip reference) jeff 🙂

  5. Clicked the link and listened. Beautiful. Thanks for providing that link. Had never heard of the artist nor the song. I remember the year, 1991, though. Our house was being built. Hopefully, I’ve replaced all the foundation “sand” with “rock”. 🙂

  6. “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion

If I could sing, some days I would sing this song to God and some days to my husband of 37 years. They are both awesome.

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
    I’ll be forever thankful baby
You’re the one who held me up
    Never let me fall
You’re the one who saw me through through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach
You gave me faith ‘coz you believed
    I’m everything I am
    Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I’m grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don’t know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach
You gave me faith ‘coz you believed
    I’m everything I am
    Because you loved me

You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
    You’ve been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach
You gave me faith ‘coz you believed
    I’m everything I am
    Because you loved me

Sorry for posting all the lyrics, struggled to get a good link.
