Writing about midlife in only three all encompassing categories

Cooper was always ready for a walk

(Photo: Cooper has been gone almost three weeks now. Last night’s walk was particularly retrospective.)

We go through our daily motions. Everyday.

Do we give our routine any conscious, deliberate thought?

To what degree?

How often?

These are the things that make us or break us.

And yet it’s a ridiculously simple concept…

Writing about three things. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

What we learned yesterday. What we get to do today. What we hope for tomorrow.

Willing to stand alone?

Columbian Ground Squirrel at Logan Pass

We think, we move, we feel, we earn, and we dwell.

  1. Mind – think
  2. Body – move
  3. Spirit – feel
  4. Money – earn
  5. HQ – dwell

Balance.

Here at Midlife Celebration we talk about our thoughts, you know, our attitude. The degree to which we rise or fall here will have a direct and proportional ripple effect through the four others.

What are we willing to commit to, bleed for, stand alone for, make a ruckus about, and generally be unreasonable about?

Because that’s what’s going to fuel our purpose and ensure we are an example instead of a warning in life.

The key difference between a poor attitude and a positive attitude

The key difference between a poor attitude and a positive attitude has nothing to do with happiness.

Being happy is not the cornerstone of a positive attitude.

Being grateful is.

While being happy all the time may seem impossible, being constantly grateful is anything but.

Dear readers, something we can all agree on

Rising Sun Motor Inn and Cabins Cabin

(photo: Simple living helps us manage our responsibilities. Our Cabin at Rising Sun Motor Inn, GNP)

The quality of our work is dependent on many things.

We have all experienced this. And continue to experience this. Even as we read this.

Same with our attitude.

Sometimes we wish we had done a better job yesterday.

Go easy on yourself.

And don’t let the notion of not producing something amazing stop you from producing.

Writing everyday is a metaphor for this.

Focus on our attitude everyday. All day.

PS. Taking a break from Glacier National Park today.
