So what?

Disneyland Star Wars name tags
Blue is for annual pass holders only.

Disneyland Star Wars name tags
At first glance, when worn by a Guest, it looks like a Cast Member name tag.

Disney Star Wars brand
Last week we purchased Star Wars name tags at Disneyland. Using E, F (2) and J to get…jeff. So what?

So what?

This game-changing question is so simple.

This game-changing question is so annoying.

We hate annoying.

And our two biggest defense tactics against annoying are denial and disregard.

Life is compellingly challenging. We could even go as far as saying life’s brutal. The constant issues that pop up unexpectedly. Some of them small and insignificant. Some of them potentially control our destiny – destiny we would never willingly pursue.

So what?

Annoying isn’t it?

We watched Return of the Sith last night.

Favorite line from Yoda:

Let go of everything you are attached to.

Favorite line from my first book:

Let go of waiting and doing nothing.

Your destiny is counting on this.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

An attitude of why is essential

Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom
Earlier this week, at the midway point of a long run from home.

Forget about what and how.

An attitude of “why” is essential.

My career as a Disney Institute professional speaker taught me the most important difference between presenting information and facilitating learning.

If i tell you, you will never remember. If i help you discover it for yourself, you will never forget.

People get so focused on what Disney does and how they do it. This approach is destined for failure. Why? Because you are not Disney.

But once you understand why Disney does things the way they do, you will find your own way to do the what and the how – because your “why” is the same as Disney’s.

Do You Fear What I Fear?

It's often very challenging to tell if someone is trustworthy.

The challenge when we fear people we can’t change nor make go away – say a neighbor, boss, relative – is our options are seriously reduced:

  • Neighbor: Sell and move away (or keep a pistol under your pillow)
  • Boss: Quit or transfer (or hope they get promoted out or retire)
  • Relative: Avoid (not in a mean way)

Or we can go with choice number four, codependency.

It Was Weird

Ever have days where weird things happen?  Of course, right?  What I’m really asking is, “What do you do with your weird events? Do you dismiss them, or look for some meaning in them?”

Couple weird things yesterday:

  1. Moved Sunday’s Guest Blogger (Lorie Sheffer) post to Lane 8
  2. Ran my first 5k as a 50-year old.

Lorie Sheffer has been a regular Guest Blogger here at Mid Life Celebration for some time. It feels weird not seeing her here today. She has a great post at the next blog.

And it was really weird to receive a plaque reading, “Male Masters Overall Winner”, at yesterday’s Run Among The Lakes 5k. Wasn’t even a goal.

Are you pushing yourself?
