Is there a secret society of fearless Baby Boomers?

Is there a secret society of absolutely fearless people?

What is freedom?

A long-time friend (30 years) facilitated an answer from me in a brief conversation at the gym last night.

We can not have fear and be free

Freedom is the absence of fear.

Fear is worrying about losing an attachment to things.

Fear is worry. Attachment.

Freedom is not being attached to things.

Freedom is living in the moment – Zen like.

It was a brilliant bfo (blinding flash of the obvious) that will simmer a while longer.

Fear prompted this epic writing journey (8.5k posts so far), and letting go of fear prompted this post revelation.

Perhaps our freedom isn’t as far away as first thought.

The harsh reality of entrepreneurship is nothing more than fighting for freedom

Mid Life Celebration turned four yesterday. This was my first “expo”… (such a “rookie amateur”)

humble beginnings often seem embarrassing in retrospect
humble entrepreneurial beginnings often seem embarrassing in retrospect (same at the gym too)

Entrepreneurship is living five to ten years of your life like most people won’t. So you can live the rest of them like most can’t.

Like, you know, like, um, well, like an entrepreneur. Like some yahoo who started drawing art on the back of business cards.

Something about being able to schedule your priorities versus prioritizing your schedule.

Same thing happens when you spend five to ten years getting in great physical condition – a lot of health crap and concerns disappear.

Like some yahoo who started running one mailbox a day for a week…

Freedom Lies Here

Blogging for Business? Brilliant (and obvious) it seemed! We need all the help we can get. You know, to get the word out.

That was Spring, 2007. Here we are 4 years later. I’m closing in on 4,000 posts. The people I shared this email (and vision) with have 1 post. This is neither good nor bad. It is what it is, that’s all.

“Freedom lies in being bold.” – Robert Frost

And in dreaming. And also on getting started.

Yesterday’s answer: Not so well.

We Are So Blind

A Very Wise Cab Driver Named Mohammed
A Very Wise Cab Driver Named Mohammed

He said, “The people who are born here and never leave to see other places have no idea what they have. They can not understand the freedoms and blessings they have”.

He went on, “Paved roads, schools everywhere, hospitals everywhere, freedom of speech, democracy”. (He contrasted these against the Blood Diamond culture he grew up with)

Mohammed is a very wise man. He is a Father, and a cab driver. He is from western Africa, Sierra Leone. And he came to America six years ago. Our 25 minutes together yesterday was eye-opening.
