Having a vibrantly positive attitude and a line you can’t cross

sidewalk biking near Walt Disney World
Couple days ago, biking to gym (habit), next to (Resort linens) Walt Disney World’s Textile Service Plant.

Every thing costs something.

Vibrancy comes with a price.

Spoiler alert…consistency.

Having a vibrantly positive attitude and a line you can’t cross.

You can’t cross a line and say, “Today i’m not gonna focus on being positive.”

The key to vibrancy is consistency.

Rhythm.

Habit.

Simple.

Difficult at first.

Once mastered, habit.

Habits are easy.

Humanity’s cardinal sin #1

Family room television
How do you judge your Television and social media consumption?

Humanity’s cardinal sin #1…

We judge ourselves on our intentions.

Others judge us on our behaviors.

What if i judged myself like everyone else judges me?

And before you go pointing fingers, “Oh yeah, Jeff should take his own advice.”, evaluate yourself with the same critical eye as you do me.

If that self-evaluation doesn’t humble you, repeat the process until it does.

It’s a human condition so none of us should feel guilty in the discovery.

Guilt should be owned only if we do nothing with the revelation.

i dreamt of changing the age-old question

Family photo
Four days ago, December 30, 2017. Annual end-of-year party at the Mitchell’s. None of them can comprehend my crazy dream. Today’s five posts are the catalyst for going public.

The Doctor said, “We estimate you have 15 months to live.”

Just a dream?

Sort of.

i dreamt of changing the age-old question, “What would you do if you had six months to live?”

Change it to what?

“What would you do if you had 10 years to live?”

So yeah, for 8.5 years, i’ve been living like my 60th birthday is my last day.

Now, i’m 15 months away from my last day.

PS. i’m fully aware no one knows the day of their death. This is exactly why this is an intriguing endeavor.

Candid, tough questions

Tough questions should be handled with candor when you are investing in self-reflection.

Think about this as you prepare to enter the new year (now only five days away).

Face the tough questions now and your year will get easier. Avoid the hard questions now and your year will get a lot harder.

Decide what you want to be mentally

Disney Customer Service speakers
Going the extra mile is a flawed proposition. i’m the first Customer Service ‘guru’ to call this out. The extra mile is outdated and misleading.

Decide what you want to be mentally.

Holding on to tradition – and what your environment as you grew up has dealt you – may be perceived as strength.

Letting go of the herd mentality (tradition) may be strength.

There’s only one way to know.
