If this is true, what does today and our future hold

We wire our attitude’s circuit board with every thought and every piece of self-talk. Photo: yesterday, our pool’s digital app circuit board.

As we think so we are.

Most of us, myself included, have inferiority complexes.

As we reach midlife we should experience these feelings much less often.

Why?

Because of the way we think.

i believe it’s possible to eliminate negative thoughts with the help of a balanced approach to life.

Bottomline (in my opinion), we need to feed ourselves with positive self-talk, continuous personal development, and constant loving care of our mind, body and spirit.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

This website is about our mental attitude. To easily and safely leave this site to read today’s post on jeff’s physical health website, click here.

When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge.  – Tuli Kupferberg

On New Year’s Eve, 2001, i committed (again) to eliminating alcohol from my daily pattern.

Two previous “serious” attempts failed: When Cheryl got pregnant, and when our son was born. Both of those milestones seemed like legitimate starting points for a new life.

But the promise was eventually broken.

Something dramatic was needed. And rather than make the worn out “i’ll start my new change on New Year’s Day, i began my resolution on the biggest drinking day of the entire year.

Impossible is only so until it’s not.

Are we capable of transformational midlife change?

Honeymoon bicycle trip
Honeymoon photo, 1984; only 25 years old with no plans of ever becoming “old”.

We poison our soul so slowly we never notice. Our deeply engrained midlife habits can change even though it feels impossible to change.

What began as a groove in our youth has become a rut so deep, we can’t climb out.

A wakeup call is the only thing powerful enough to change this.

From our wakeup call, we can benefit in large as well as small, seemingly insignificant ways.

Yesterday i arrived early for a meeting with a Certified Financial Planner. We were both driving to a central location. He was 15 minutes late. Our first reaction is to get impatient. Then we start feeling unimportant as a customer. This makes us angry. Right?

But here’s what really happened.

After the initial tinge of impatience i quickly moved to, “i hope he is alright. i hope he didn’t get in an accident.”

How do we maintain a positive attitude in the face of deep emotional and spiritual pain?

The recent legalization of same sex marriage in all 50 states has led to an official statement from the Catholic Church.

A former boss at Disney shared the struggle his father, a Pastor, had when my boss told his dad he is gay.

Can you imagine the turmoil, doubt, fear, ridicule, rejection, etc, etc?

What would you do?
