Ready, set, go…year 11

Miami Street Art
More Miami Street Art. A perfect photo for April 1, 2019. Smiling. A decade of daily writing without missing a single day. #truth

Good morning February 1, 2019 as i write this, and hello April Fools Day 2019 as it is published.

Like the past 3,653 days, i begin today writing five differently-themed blog posts.

But yesterday was different.

Woke up in Miami and wasn’t able to write a single post in the morning – no writing until all this stuff got done:

  • Private 90-minute Disney Customer Service Keynote in Miami
  • Client meeting after Keynote
  • Client call to Madrid
  • Another meeting
  • Drive four hours from Miami to home
  • Drive to Disney’s Magic Kingdom to shoot a couple short videos for Madrid client

Begin five daily, differently-themed blog posts writing at 8:30pm, less than 11 hours ago. Writing happens before i leave the house 99.5% of the time. And 100% of the time, it happens every, single, day – for a decade.

Crazy to start year 11.

This concludes a quick decade of prolific blogging

Famous Miami artist
Last night we toured the Miami Street Art scene. Photo: Inside the premier art gallery. This piece lists at $45,000.

Today (January 31, 2019) is the 3,593rd consecutive day of writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts on five separate but daisy-chained websites.

This will post live on March 31, 2019.

And as this is read in real time, the decade of prolific blog writing is completed and the blog writing will do tomorrow what it has for 3,652 (includes 2 leap years) consecutive days…

Extend the consecutive days without missing a day streak to 3,653.

Never missed a day and today will not be the first

Minion and Disney Speaker
Today.

Never missed a day and today will not be the first.

It’s 10:30pm as i begin today’s five posts.

Left the house at 8:30am this morning to ride 14 miles to Universal Studios for an AV check.

Left Universal at 8:00pm and rode home, the last 40 minutes in the dark.

It was serendipitous that Magic Kingdom fireworks were concluding as i biked onto our driveway.

It’s tempting to simply go straight to bed.

But there is a streak on the line and it feels like it’s worth defending.

Why did jeff noel pick April Fools Day to start?

Midlife Celebration
Photo: from 2011. First blog posts are from 2008. Daily writing began April 1, 2009.

April Fools Day is the day many people play practical jokes.

So what April Fools Day practical joke did jeff noel play on this date in 2009?

None.

The impossible goal of writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts for 100 consecutive days was not a joke.

Knowing i wanted to write my first book coupled with the 2008-09 economic tsunami – it was a perfect catalyst to gain writing practice.

But i thought i was a fool to believe in such a ridiculously ambitious goal.
