Honey, It's For You

Dear Past

dear world
At Rollins College cafeteria yesterday.

Dear Past, thank you for all the lessons.

Dear Future, if you will have me, i am ready.

Dear Me, i know you’re invested in the path you’ve created, but it’s time to walk away from it.

You cannot demand your way to commitment from others.

You can only (repeat, only) inspire and develop others to become committed.

And even with that, the odds of others being inspired by what you do is low.

Wish i had better news for you.

Your attitude in hearing this news right now….

Adversity doesn’t develop character, it reveals it.

Go.

You can do this.

It will be hard.

You will want to turn around – to quit, to retreat, to not change.

You know you can’t because, then, nothing will ever transform.

Fake it until you make it

positive quote
Yesterday from LinkedIn.

Fake it until you make it.

Belief is a powerful force.

In fact, if there is something you think you can’t do, you can verify it’s true (with yourself – you’re already convinced) because you haven’t done it.

Insider tip: Whatever your impossible is, know it will never turn out like you think. When you finally do the thing you thought you couldn’t, it either turns out better or worse.

i know friends, family, and colleagues who refuse to try because they are not willing to take the risk on better or worse.

Dear Son

There is rarely a warning strong enough to avoid the wakeup call

Car crash debris
Guaranteed the two vehicles involved in this crash had no earthly idea it was about to happen.

There is rarely a warning strong enough to avoid the wake-up call.

Live like you mean it.

Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Seven years later we reach the starting line

Life has a funny way of providing what we need, if we stay with it and ebb and flow like nature.

It is often called wisdom.

Seven years later we reach the starting line.

April Fools Day is almost here.

  • 100% certain i will continue to devote a minimum two hours a day to writing
  • 93% (a made up number) sure writing will focus on a book(s)

Perhaps the 100-day blog surplus, which evolved over several years, was divinely created to offer the opportunity that (probably) commences in 20 days.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Mid Life Crisis Is When...

Overcome as quickly and mercilessly as possible

Apple Calendar on Apple Watch
Yesterday and today on Apple Watch.

The daily grind never goes away. When we stay on top of it we tend to forget how far we’ve come, how much we’ve conquered, in life. But let a few days, or even a few weeks, of slowly getting behind with our day-to-day and bam, we can feel out of control again.

When our organizational habits force us to live in an out of control world, we adapt and loose our ability to see how draining and stressful this lifestyle is.

Overcoming this, you realize that living the old way was so unhealthy.

Falling back into the old way is an amazingly clear reminder that you have accomplished something magnificent.

And any digression should be overcome as quickly and mercilessly as possible.

Note: The premise is two-fold, bad things are always going to happen and being decently on top of things allows us to tackle them as they come. It’s when we are backed up (as a lifetime habit) in handling bad things that the snowball effect overwhelmes us.
