Two rocket-fuel type questions

home office
Every day at home starts here well before sunrise. Recently replaced the desk and made things simpler.

Two critical, rocket-fuel-type questions we should have a ready answer for:

  • What’s my next?
  • How long do i have to achieve it?

Why?

Because without purpose and a deadline, where does your passion, motivation, and plan come from?

Resilience

Yesterday. In the backyard.

Resilience.

Nature has seen it all, except perhaps a human population that grows by one-billion every 13 years.

From Google:

Exponential growth of world population. It took 127 years for the world population to double from one billion to two. By contrast, it took only 47 years, from 1927 to 1974, to double from two billion to four. Since 1960, world population has grown by about one billion every 13 years.

Mother Earth has adapted and evolved over 4.5 billion years. She serves as a benchmark for our own existence. Adapt and overcome.

Over and under

Glacier National Park from a distance
Water is so soft compared to a rock. Yet water can carve a river of stone, given enough time.

We overestimate what we can do in a week. We underestimate what we can do in a month.

We overestimate what we can do in a month and underestimate what we can do in a year.

We overestimate what we can do in a day, and underestimate what we can do in a decade.

Paradox of busy

setting up ipad
Last night.

Being busy is cheap, focus is expensive.

It’s easy to be busy.

It’s rare to be focused.

Now multiply this out exponentially over your lifetime.

Scary ain’t it?

Unless, of course, you invest wisely.

Over-focus on the things you used to under-focus on or ignore.

Time and resources are always scarce

Is your enthusiasm so hot you need coolant to not overheat?

Mental time and resources are always scarce.

On a 1-10 scale with 10 as high, how mentally bold are you planning to be in 2019?

How close to 10 are you?
