Reflection is like money in the bank

Delta priority boarding receipt
Had forgotten i purchased priority boarding for the trip out.

Reflection is like money in the bank.

Being cash rich but time poor means you have money in the bank, but you are too busy to spend time on yourself and with people you care about.

Your time is spent on being excellent (a positive assumption) in your career, but not having enough time to get a decent night’s sleep.

So yeah, self-reflection is a special kind of wealth.

When you start sleeping well and start awakening early enough to self-reflect, you’ll still be busy.

A “healthier” busy.

And then you can be bold enough and brave enough to be true to yourself.

If not now (or soon), when?

If not ever, why?

It’s fascinating how easily we focus on others

USDA
Yesterday morning a car parked on our cul de sac. This is not normal. It is also not normal for someone to exit their vehicle and walk through a neighbor’s yard. PS. The photo came after the blog content below. Fascinating.

It’s fascinating how easily we focus on others.

It’s so easy to spot people we think drive worse than us.

But how often do we spot people who drive better than us?

Like, um, never.

Crazy, right?

Do we even care?

Why is that?

Humanity’s cardinal sin #1

Family room television
How do you judge your Television and social media consumption?

Humanity’s cardinal sin #1…

We judge ourselves on our intentions.

Others judge us on our behaviors.

What if i judged myself like everyone else judges me?

And before you go pointing fingers, “Oh yeah, Jeff should take his own advice.”, evaluate yourself with the same critical eye as you do me.

If that self-evaluation doesn’t humble you, repeat the process until it does.

It’s a human condition so none of us should feel guilty in the discovery.

Guilt should be owned only if we do nothing with the revelation.

Candid, tough questions

Tough questions should be handled with candor when you are investing in self-reflection.

Think about this as you prepare to enter the new year (now only five days away).

Face the tough questions now and your year will get easier. Avoid the hard questions now and your year will get a lot harder.

Please indulge in mental self-care

Know what you’re looking for before you start looking.

Please indulge in mental self-care.

Know what you’re looking for before you start looking.

Why?

Confusion and doubt do not nourish a positive mental attitude.

  • Great English Department
  • Clean and safe campus (includes dorm rooms)
  • Great food
  • Close (30 mins+- ) to airport

Maybe campus karma too.
