Panic serves no one

Day to day, humanity leans heavily on stress and distress.

We rarely lean on joy, confidence, and growth.

What if this was reversed?

Good news, you can.

What if we thought of excuses the same as this?

paradox of choice
In the middle of the sentence, pure gold…the promiscuous amount of choice…

Please make sure you read the photo; in the middle of the sentence, pure gold…the promiscuous amount of choice…renders the consumer helpless.

So many excuses.

So little time.

So many excuses render us helpless.

Excuses need to be invalid or unacceptable. It’s like spilling something on a shirt or blouse and as soon as you can you want to put on a clean top or wash the soiled top. You refuse to walk around (unless you’re really drunk) with a glaring spill on your clothes.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Everybody thinks they’re the good guy

Dear Son, you have heard me say that the three tools of my trade are:

  1. common sense
  2. paradox
  3. questions

Here is a woman who uses paradox and it stopped me in my tracks because of it’s power.

She revealed the paradox with a statement, “Everybody believes they are the good guy”.

Want to disarm your opponent?

Listen to them.

Disruption and non-traditional are synonymous

Apple Notes App
Yesterday, this photo is a real example of me taking notes while Gary walked me through it.

Yesterday included an opportunity to visit the Apple Store for a one-to-one session with Gary. Gary is an amazing resource for not only everything Apple, but also well beyond the boundaries of Apple technology.

i take many photos on a daily basis. Often, i use photos to take notes, so i was looking for hacks to store these “Notes” photos in contacts.

Learned from Gary that you can’t in contacts but you can with Apple’s Notes app.

This led to Gary sharing some fascinating information about how photos are being used in disruptive (untraditional) ways. Most photos these days never get printed and never end up in a scrapbook. Most are taken to be shared digitally. And they are even used as a substitute when someone texts, “What are you doing right now?”.

Had this crazy idea driving home from Apple that i’ll share on the fourth blog (jungle jeff).

The paradox of midlife conviction

Steve Prefontaine
Steve Prefontaine would have turned 65 yesterday. He tragically died in a single car accident in 1975.

The paradox of (midlife) conviction.

Much of Mid Life Celebration’s original vision has come true, yet much remains.

Why?

Because the world is asking for my Disney expertise.

i am quietly and consistently working to give the world what it wants.

i believe that a vision works best when evolution is in the DNA; change is not only welcomed, it is necessary.

N-e-c-e-s-s-a-r-y.

Just finished reading today’s Seth Godin’s post and he’s promoting Persuadable, a new book hypothesizing that great leaders change their minds.
