Better to be an inspired mistake?

Walt Disney World welcome entrance
No place like home. At a red light reflecting on how often i drive past here each week.

Better to be an inspired mistake or better to be perfect?

Taking risks is risky. So is playing it safe.

On a drive home from Orlando Airport, i stopped at a red light at one of our hometown’s biggest intersections.

In a random moment, a relatively deep thought, triggered by the Walt Disney World sign and Hurricane Matthew, revealed an insight.

Insight: Underneath the surface in a post like this is the hidden intentionality that allows a person to follow their dreams – by subconsciously reminding them to plant those ideas in fertile soil.

The reason i frequently drive by this sign is that in 1984, my wife and i packed up everything we owned and relocated from Washington State to take a calculated risk that we could carve out a life at Walt Disney World.

Excuses were abundant then. They remain plentiful now.

Excuses were not allowed then. They are also not allowed now.

Ever.

Exactly who is best suited for impossible?

Apple countdown to iPhone 6

(photo: screen shot at 3:56am PDT from the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront)

Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 yesterday, September 9.

One-hundred days from now this post goes live.

No one will care about what happened 100 days ago.

And that’s the point.

Inspiration and excitement are like narcotics.

What we want to accomplish is simple, yet elusive… sustaining our ‘high’ all day everyday, without any negative side effects.

It’s called balance.

Impossible is for amateurs.

Dear Son, wait until you can instantaneously articulate what inspires you

Can we instantaneously articulate what inspires us? Movies can inspire us, like the one last night, Safe Haven, the catalyst for today’s post.

Starting a business, publishing a book, representing the United States at the Senior Olympics, becoming a Father, celebrating three-plus decades as a husband, revolving everything around Jesus, annually donating and recycling things once thought to be important…

These things have made jungle jeff an exponentially better Cast Member.

And remarkably…

Being a Cast Member has exponentially made jungle jeff better at all those things.

It has been nearly eight months and 1,100 posts since the word me has been used.

Permission to become exceptionally self aware (not perfect, simply aware) is THE most under rated gift you can give yourself.

Live like you mean it. Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Make sense now?

Editor’s note: Today’s five posts will benefit from increased context.

First, we agree that social media is diverse and a universally accepted form of expression.

Second, the rules for personal and professional social media participation are both clear and cloudy.

Basically interpreted as, “Do not embarrass yourself or your company. Use good judgement.”

The only one at risk of being embarrassed today is me, even though extraordinarily good judgement is being used:

Think of good judgement this way: If your Grandmother and your Pastor were having dinner in your home and you asked them to read some of your posts before dinner, would they be offended?

So yeah, good judgement, this one’s for you.

Have decided to continue writing five daily, differently-themed blogs about life’s big choices.

(reached the five year anniversary a few days ago – would have been ridiculously easy to stop)

And never once have regurgitated previous content.

Not once.

(this is a big deal btw)

How?

Why?

Because:

Different is art. Having guts is art. Doing what we say we’re gonna do is art.

Make sense now?

Note: There is some content that is key, repeatable, and simple – and it is not regurgitation, but imprinting. Big dif.

Live like you mean it!

Survive or thrive. It doesn’t take genius.

Maybe this video will help someone today. And we all could use a helping hand. All of us.

Paradigm Shift: Why write a book for your child?

What if we thought of the book as a giant love letter?

Wishing you peace and blessings immeasurable to you and everyone you love.

And know that one of the best ways to heal ourselves is to help others heal.

Survive or thrive. It doesn’t take genius.

PS. Just had an aha moment – more like a reminder – all the writing (for those of you reading all five) has the same intent. Maybe these posts will help someone today.
