Born in the USA

three flags
USA, Montana, Canada.

Yesterday we watched, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.

Really thought the movie’s climax would feature the Born In The USA release, tour, and superstardom.

It didn’t.

The movie was not what i expected.

It revolved around the creation and release of Nebraska.

Nebraska was released between the double studio album, The River, and Born In The USA.

i bought Nebraska when CD’s were a thing. Since i had every other Springsteen CD, it was a no-brainer to get the latest. Never listened past the second song. Ever. Couldn’t. It was too difficult.

As a successful artist, Bruce risked his reputation with Nebraska. You’ll have to watch the movie to see why. It’s something i do not have the bandwidth to write about now (or most likely, ever).

And yet, it was my favorite part of the movie.

Same as yesterday

Mountains and a lake
Same photo angle as yesterday. Yesterday was portrait mode. This photo is landscape mode.

You may have noticed i’m taking a break from most posts being in the “quote” category.

Why?

Not sure.

In the same way the “quote category” had an almost 2-year run, perhaps it’s time to take a break. Maybe that’s why?

We shall see.

i get energy from doing things for the first time.

Kids thrive on this too.

In layperson’s terms it’s called, learning

Worth the risk?

Bear danger sign posted on an orange traffic cone
Bear danger is real because so many visitors have no clue how to sensibly behave in the wild.

Worth the risk to publish 10 consecutive days of photo-free posts?

Yes.

Why?

Because of the experiments from several months ago.

Remember?

Posts with text only.

Posts with photos only.

Posts with videos only.

The original experiments where small risks at the time.

There was setup and “warning” about the coming changes.

Explained the “why”.

What seemed like a (small) risk at the time was simply a slow and steady way to improve.

Improve what?

Improve the ability to manage life and a daily, two-hour (average) writing commitment. And, the advent of some major life changes on the horizon.

It could happen

Grizzly Bear and man
This could be the local Bass Pro Shops or outside someone’s cabin.

It could happen. You could be thinking, like i have been, that the five themes have been shot to heck with all this text-less, photos-only, videos-only experimental posts.

Agreed.

Thanks for coming along for the ride.

Doing things that might not work requires taking risks.

Crave failure.

Kinda Magical

Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain
Something about this photo.

The past week posting (almost) only videos…fun, weird, opportunistic.

Opportunitistic?

Yes.

How?

Don’t know yet, but i can feel something.
