One week to impossibly impossible

home office
Yesterday morning with the sun shining brightly from the East.
Hey mic and iPhone setup
Couple nights ago i attempted to synch bluetooth devices. Didn’t work. Was still able to record my first rough-draft speech template for an audience of 12, at a senior citizen care facility.

One week to impossibly impossible.

April Fools Day, 2009, remember?

When i do the TED Talk in five weeks, will the world record be official by then? Will i mention it? Guessing no on both questions.

What’s more impossible, getting invited to Kuwait to deliver a TEDx Talk, or setting a world record for most blog posts written by a single author?

Today, March 24, 2019, neither. But had you asked five, 10, 15 years ago, easy answer would have been an emphatic, “Guaranteed impossible!”

How to dream

Dream like nothing’s impossible.

Why?

It’s contagious.

Also contagious is not dreaming big dreams.

Sometimes what helps us most is the thing we discount in importance.

It’s like this: An object in motion tends to stay in motion and an object at rest tends to stay at rest.

What is possible is driven by a couple things

Disney World Water Bridge by Contemporary Resort. The boats travel over the vehicles.

Assumption: most of us didn’t receive optimal positive thinking training, feedback, nor encouragement.

What is possible for each of us is driven by three things:

  1. What you learned in the past and became conditioned by.
  2. What you are learning now and becoming conditioned to.
  3. What you hope to learn in the future and become conditioned by.

Bottom line, your thinking drives everything.

Whether you feel trapped by your past, satisfied with your past, or motivated by your past, every decision you make is up to you.

Enjoy the privilege to decide.

Reprise from yesterday’s insight about wisdom and our thoughts

Sanibel sunrise
Every day that you wake up (alive) is an opportunity to do the impossible.

Reprise from yesterday’s insight about wisdom and our thoughts…

Had my first drink at 13 the Summer of 1972.

Somewhere around 18 i went full-time.

At 41, on my third “no, this time i mean it” attempt, i stopped.

Impossible is nothing…

There was no middle ground for me. Every day or not at all. i quit on New Year’s Eve (not New Years Day), the biggest drinking day in the world.

Prior, i promised myself i’d stop if my wife got pregnant. Did well for a little while, but failed.

Made another promise, “When the baby is born.”

Did well for even longer (about 6 months) than the first failure, but failed again.

Then, as our Son was almost 1.5 years old, i decided Dec 30 would be my last drinking day.

That was 2001.

Failure paves the way for success if you want it bad enough.

There’s only one way to find out

Disney Institute Keynote Speaker
Walt Disney said, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”

There’s only one way to find out if something is impossible.

Try to do what others say can’t be done.

Try to do something no one else has thought of.
