We become who we tell ourselves we are

Steve Jobs unveiling the iPhone in 2007
Steve Jobs was moments away from revealing to the audience that those three are combined on one device – the first iPhone announcement in 2007.

This is why the way we think is critical to whether we live a life spent surviving or live a life spent thriving.

We become who we tell ourselves we are.

It is simple arithmetic.

Our unstoppable thoughts add up to help us or hinder us.

Midlife denial is heaven on Earth

First day of school
Yesterday in the driveway before the first day of High School.

(This is the type of conversation i frequently constantly have with myself. And it’s this tough love that has helped me find the path less traveled.)

Midlife denial is heaven on Earth. We don’t have to think about the tough choices we should be making. This makes us feel better.

Coffee in the morning (and all day possibly). Alcohol in the evening.

Television, social media, food, work.

Medicated, entertained, and distracted.

Yeah, that ought to protect me us from making difficult decisions.

Denying something doesn’t make it go away.

LinkedIn messaging
My note was two days ago, his reply was yesterday.

Thank you email
Yesterday, a thank you email.

Was yesterday extraordinary?

If yes, congratulations.

If not, how about the day before?

If no, what about the day before that?

If no, when was the last time you had two extraordinary days in a row?

This is why midlife celebration is so important. Our goal is to never again have a day that is less than extraordinary.

You may say i’m a dreamer…pretty sure i’m not the only one…

Simplicity is operational genius

Quote on truth
Yesterday, during High School campus tour…”Truth is ever to be found…”

This was a moment many don’t experience because the default option is the closest public school your address says you’re zoned for.

That’s what we had planned for originally.

If you had a more compelling option, but it came with a price, would you take it?
