Stress can destroy our positive attitude

Windermere Prep Boys Basketball 2016 State Champs
Minutes before the 5pm tip off.

Feeling a sense of overwhelm for about 10 days now. And have been working desperately hard to undo it.

Yesterday i started seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

Had to quit working by 2:30pm yesterday in order to travel to a High School Class 3A Basketball State Championship game.

When work piles up, we can ill afford to cut our workday short.

But when we are in control, we can cut work, without guilt, whenever we need to.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Leadership isn’t just about work

Spaceship Earth at dusk
Future World. What is our “future world” and will we work hard to shape it in spite of the obstacles?

Our attitude shapes everything about us.

Leadership isn’t just about work. Leadership is about balance. This includes figuring out how to manage an often overwhelmingly busy life. My posts are meant to state the obvious, which is easy to ignore when we’re overwhelmed.

Pressures of the real world

The iceberg of ignorance

Real world pressures. Do they ever go away? Since the answer is no, how do we keep our attitude incredibly positive for an entire lifetime? (Tweet this)

Ironic that most of us shake our heads affirmatively while reading the graph, yet we could redo the graph from top to bottom:

  • Problems known to us
  • Problems known to our acquaintances
  • Problems known to our best friends
  • Problems known to our Family

Always is a big word, so is Magic

Disney Customer Service Magic Speakers
Yesterday morning on a run, working, always working. And having fun.

Always working.

Always having fun.

Disneyland wasn’t open yet, but that didn’t stop me from stopping by for a fun photo during the morning run.

Awaiting this potential Vancouver client’s yay or nay on a Disney Customer Service speech in five weeks.

PS. A week earlier, i sent a similar photo from the East coast park.

If Disney ran your mental attitude

Dead Poet's Society
The day Robin Williams died, an email from a 1990’s Disney colleague.

If Disney ran your mental attitude, we’d ask four simple questions:

  1. How well are your employees able to articulate your vision?
  2. How engaged are your employees in carrying out your vision?
  3. How clear are your employees on what they are being held accountable for?
  4. How committed are your employees, day in and day out?

There are many more questions but these are the baseline starting points.
