It’s everything, or so they say

Sidewalk chalk message
Exploring nearby neighborhoods by bicycle last week. My bike tire lower right. 🙂

A side trip near the end of a 25-mile bike ride took me through an enormous apartment complex near our home. Was scouting out short cuts for when i’m running.

Didn’t find a short cut due to a comprehensive perimeter wall, but did discover a plea from one neighbor to another:

Quit letting your dog crap by other’s windows and patios. Pick it up.

Would it be too much to ask the author to add the words please and thank you?

Attitude is everything. Or so they say.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Leadership isn’t just about work

Spaceship Earth at dusk
Future World. What is our “future world” and will we work hard to shape it in spite of the obstacles?

Our attitude shapes everything about us.

Leadership isn’t just about work. Leadership is about balance. This includes figuring out how to manage an often overwhelmingly busy life. My posts are meant to state the obvious, which is easy to ignore when we’re overwhelmed.

It’s a slow, arduous, self-conscious journey

Disney's attention to detail
Disney’s Animal Kingdom…the highway number represents the month and year the Park opened. Guests, and even most Cast Members, have no idea.

i spend a lot of time wondering what’s possible.

So i ask myself, “If you could train yourself to become 100% comfortable pushing yourself all day, every day, what would change?”

Wow.

The flood of possibilities.

Simultaneously, i think about my obligation (intentional word choice…obligation is a strong word) to push others.

Again, the (staggering) possibilities blow my mind.

It’s dangerous to confuse the two

morning love note
First thing awaiting me downstairs yesterday morning. Rec’d mug last night at conference welcome dinner.

Don’t confuse your gift with your passion.

Disney is my passion.

Teaching is my gift.

Although i hated to leave Disney after 30 incredible years, it was the right thing to do.

Ps. 100 days later, today, May 12, i’ve had to re-read this post several times and i’m still struggling to understand my conviction when i wrote it.

No one can make you do this every morning

Orlando Sunrise
A few minutes ago, January 30, 2016.

Yesterday marked 30 years to the day for the Challenger disaster.

A few days before that marked three years since a friend took his life at work.

Almost daily, each of us is faced with world events and personal events that are painful and senseless.

No one is immune to this distant (world) and close (personal) pain and confusion.

We must greet the day with joy, hope, and gratitude.

Well, we don’t have to, and that’s the point of this post.
