All motivation becomes self-motivation

All motivation becomes self-motivation.

As an adolescent and young adult, basically until we move out on our own, we can be “force motivated” by parents, teachers, peer pressure, and media.

Eventually we learn that motivation from others isn’t powerful anymore because we’ve reached an age and belief that we can make our own choices.

We can do whatever we please.

Staying highly motivated over our lifetime is work.

Our work ethic drives the depth and effectiveness of our habits – and vice versa.

Habits control our behaviors.

Our habits (hence our behaviors) are birthed and strengthened by our motivation.

And everything we receive in life is affected by our habits.

Habits that do one of two things:

  1. help us grow strong and thrive
  2. don’t help our growth and accelerate our decline

An underrated habit is continuously choosing to have habits that are by design rather than by default – or vice versa.

This underrated habit forges your destiny.

If you knew you couldn’t fail

Sanibel sunrise
Two days in a row using a photo from a few minutes ago, rather than the usual “day before” photos.

Wouldn’t it be great to live in 2019 with a brand new approach to our life?

One that sounds like this…

If you knew you could not fail.

Here’s to the difficult, time-consuming, and inconvenient work it takes.

Be the person you dream of.

Seriously, why not?

Right?

The creative, generous, kind, and joyful person who only wants to do work that matters.

The type of person who says it doesn’t matter if the work is challenging and takes years, or even a lifetime.

And the kind of work that you can creatively have a blast at doing.

Be the person you dream of.

And remember, you don’t want to be thinking this…

A year from now i’ll wish i had started today.

Having or not having consistency equals what?

Breathe magazine
Yesterday at the Publix (grocery) checkout aisle. What if we subscribed to the lifetime of happiness special?

Mental habits and rituals.

They make or break us.

Having consistently positive energy, thoughts, and outlooks is essential to a lifetime of seeing the good side – the opportunity – in every situation.

Not having consistent energy, thoughts, and outlooks is like being given a prison sentence – with hard, unwanted labor – in every situation.

Habits.

Rituals.

You own these.

You can enhance them and excel at them.

And if you choose not to, you will live in a hell you don’t deserve.

Too many options makes us a tyrant to ourselves

The Holy Grail. Over-focus.

Too many options makes us a tyrant to ourselves

Our time.

How we spend it is how we turn out.

Our choices.

Our habits.

Our fear.

Our discontent.

Our restlessness.

Our dreams.

Our goals.

Our purpose.

Our vision.

Letting go of what doesn’t serve us.

Exploiting what does serve us.

Exploit your gratitude to encompass every single thing you do, have, and feel.

You’re welcome.

Please don’t ignore your authentic voice

Please don’t ignore your authentic voice.

Why?

One good conversation can shift the direction of change forever. – Linda Lambert

And what if that is a conversation you have with yourself?

Transformative?

Potentially.

Probably.

Wait, no, definitely.
