Clutter keeps (attitude) change from happening

Pennsylvania Fall foliage
Beauty in a Pennsylvania front yard. Treasure?

This may not be true be true for you, but it was for me.

Clutter keeps (attitude) change from happening.

Clutter buries our most important, and perhaps urgent, priorities. Like a treasure that’s buried, we cannot find our priorities.

Even with a map, finding treasure is not guaranteed.

We may never discover our priorities.

Pity.

Pity to live a life without the optimism that flows when our treasure is found.

Are our priorities, which produce optimism, buried under our feet?

And we thought it was elusive.

PS. In the absence of clear priorities, we turn to the things that medicate, entertain, and distract us. This, ironically, buries our soul right next to our priorities.

Midlife, entrepreneurial, digital insanity?

i question whether or not Facebook serves my attitude.

Facebook is almost like spam. There are so many things posted that i have no interest in.

i rarely post personal stuff because i really only want my family and closest friends to see it.

Been playing around with different settings to see if i can eliminate most of the unwanted messages. Meanwhile, i’ve already cut 157 connections – all of them people i call friends.

If this is confusing, remember that being friends isn’t reliant on being connected on Facebook.

Do the math, he’s living without margin

Florida living
Last night, a 30 minute bike ride.

When he does the math it doesn’t add up. He’s living without margin. This, coming from of all people, a high school math teacher.

It was a parent/teacher conference a week or so after the official date. i love that the teacher’s are flexible to do whatever it takes.

i had no academic issues to discuss so i went straight to the small talk and “where are you from” kinda stuff. His candor was delightfully tension reducing. Honest, open, vulnerable – trust’s main ingredients.

PS. We all struggle with finding margin in our lives. Margin is defined as breathing room in our day to day responsibilities. Case in point, i can’t remember the last time i got eight hours of sleep in a single night.

Facebook is really freakin’ me out

Cocoa Beach Pier old man surfer
Couple days ago at Cocoa Beach. We can easily drown in the sea of lifetime choices we are confronted with.

Facebook has really freaked me out this past year.

It’s unmanageable with the other commitments clamoring for attention in our lives; can’t keep up with all the activity. Does anyone else feel guilt, or struggle with this?

On Facebook, society at large presents their best foot forward, or their deepest grief. Do we try to keep up, daily, with hundreds of magic and tragic updates?

How often do active users have to look at their phones each day? And if it isn’t number of looks, then how much time is required, each day/week? And if we are just skimming, why? What’s the motive? To compare? To be rubberneckers on the highway of life?

What is this auto pilot reaction to “Like” so many things? i feel like i want to and that i should – it’s the friendly thing to do – but then i start wondering, “Do we post updates to see how many likes we can get, like some weird video game in pursuit of our high score?”

So yeah, pretty freaked out in 2015.
