What if our Facebook updates focused on our opportunities?

American Flag
Yesterday a new American flag replaced a well-worn American Flag.

What if our Facebook updates focused on our opportunities?

If our spotlights and lasers were focused on ourselves, we probably wouldn’t have time to worry about what other people need to change.

Why?

Our time, theoretically, would be consumed with self-improvement.

There wouldn’t be time in our day to worry about other’s (namely politicians on both sides, and in every Country, State, and local government) behavior because we’re (now) so busy transforming ourselves.

Daily writing helps me see this in myself and it’s the primary reason why i continuously write about mind, body, spirit, work, and home.

What we dislike in others is usually a negative blind spot.

What we appreciate in others is usually a positive blind spot.

i work diligently to be more accepting and forgiving of behaviors that tempt me unfavorably.

Also investing in better energy and more consistent and committed acceptance in my “gifts”.

Is Facebook the New American Civil War battle field?

America's new civil war
Twelve hours ago at the grocery store check out.

Before the grocery store, we spent three hours in Winter Garden.

Standing ovation well deserved.

Satisfied?

There’s a gap between where you are and where you want to be?

Many gaps.

Does this fuel you to close the gaps?

Does it frighten you into analysis paralysis?

Do you generate momentum to close gaps?

Does momentum seem to keep burying you in overwhelm?

Our answers reveal our attitude.

Hint: You likely have too many things vying for your attention. Figure it out.

Who would you be if Facebook didn’t exist?

Siri screen
Just Siri it and find what you need.

Profound question…

Who would you be if Facebook didn’t exist?

Facebook provides everyone with a microphone (or megaphone).

Here’s the thing.

Generally, most vocal people treat their audience as if they bought a front row ticket to their show.

Think about it.

Do you have trouble sleeping at night because you can’t wait to log into Facebook in the morning and see everyone’s updates?

PS. Create a Facebook Page where your audience has to sign up. See how many likes you get then. Pretty scary ain’t it? What’s stopping you from creating a FB page? Rejection?

Just because it’s easy to shout doesn’t mean people like shouters.

In reality, we don’t need to feel guilty

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – first thing a saw yesterday morning.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – awoke with an idea i had to write down. Stayed up from this point on.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – a moment in real time yesterday.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – early birds and adventurers see things others never will – an empty pool.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – approxiamately 5am.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – minutes from docking at Port Canaveral yesterday morning. No place like home (Florida).

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, the writer was up at 5:00am, writing like she means it.

Being off social media for eight days while sailing on the Disney Fantasy was surprisingly easy.

So much drama.

Just because Facebook gives everyone (us) a microphone doesn’t mean we should use it.

A Facebook Page would make sense.

Then, people could Like your Page and follow your story.

The harsh reality is very few people care about what we have to say.

PS. This post was prompted because i read some Facebook updates a few minutes ago, now that we are back on land and have unlimited wifi.

Maybe i just need to mute some people’s updates. But it doesn’t feel right. Why be connected if you’re not gonna listen?

Facebook mind

Traffic backup at Epcot toll plaza
Yesterday on our way to lunch at Epcot. It was a block-out (no go) day for getting family in.

Vehicle window messages
We can already see the writing on the wall – their Facebook updates…

Facebook mind, aka Facebook attitude.

You either control Facebook or Facebook controls you, at least for me.

Our attitude about our ability to be in control, or to be controlled, by social media is our responsibility. Challenge is, social norms allow overuse to be acceptable.

Even though i was ineffective at keeping up with everyone, i still tried – as if some miracle would happen. Or as if in my trying, i wouldn’t have to feel guilty for missing important moments in people’s lives.

Update: Today Feb 23…wow, reading this now, 100 days after the fact, i must have really been struggling…rather than edit today’s five posts, i’m leaving them as is – a moment in time, an internal struggle captured “on paper”.
