The day began like the day before

The day began like the day before…

Like every morning, yesterday’s began with the same two-hour writing investment. Five differently-themed blogs on five separate websites.

i write so prolifically, not because i have to, or feel a need to have followers, but simply because i enjoy writing and and because it makes me a more intentional, more focused thinker and doer.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Good morning DC

Forget about what the world needs for a minute – what do YOU need?

Let me start by sharing that daily writing is exceptionally cathartic.

Good morning DC.

i’m not here because i want to be, i’m here because i’m doing a favor for a friend.

No harm, no foul.

He’s the CIO of the 5th largest medical (in their specialty) practice in the United States.

He recommended me to his CEO and the CEO wants me to meet the top eight executives and provide a one-hour executive overview.

As a small business entrepreneur, time is precious. Investing time usually has an economic outcome. This one has potential, but doesn’t come with a guarantee.

The remaining four posts today will continue this train of thought.

What do you want to do?

What do you want to do?*

Not your job, but your work. There’s a difference.

Your job is what you have to do.

Your art work is what you get to do.

So think about that on three terms:

  1. Now
  2. Tomorrow
  3. Future

You know when executives talk about how busy they are and how tough it is to find time to step back and figure out what’s not working and how to fix it? i offer remarkably simple architecture for organizational vibrancy, something i’ve mastered from 30 years at Disney.

*If you’re having trouble answering this, you’re going to have trouble moving up, because you’ve abdicated your dream to whomever walks in the door next.

Too tired to think?

Nope.

On the contrary, thinking has been on over-drive.

Is it worth it?

Being intentional with a keep out sign
Photo: May 20, 2016 during 30-mile bicycle ride. A different and courteous way to say “keep out”.

In a world full of cookie cutter performance, what does it take to become a craftsman.

And is it worth it?

As a business owner, the reality is that in a sea of competitors, it is difficult to stand out.

If we don’t stand out in the customer’s eyes, it is much more challenging to pay the bills, let alone grow.

Standing out from the crowd is potentially the best marketing campaign you can ever have.
