What does mental change sound like?

Seth Godin's Titan book
This 17-pound “Titan” of a book ($170 sale price) arrived last night.

What does it sound like when you change your mind?

What is mental change?

Is it useful?

Is it worth defending?

Can it last?

Just ask Seth Godin.

Or me.

Seth’s Titan arrived last night.

The real name is:

What Does It Sound Like When You Change Your Mind?

It’s a (huge) collection of Seth’s blog posts.

Changing our mental attitude to be 100% positive and helpful sounds like…

Peace and contentment.

It also sounds like finally being certain.

i’m finally certain all 5 Mid Life Celebration blogs serve one purpose – a trail, a manifesto, a long love letter – to my son and wife.

What do you want to do?

What do you want to do?*

Not your job, but your work. There’s a difference.

Your job is what you have to do.

Your art work is what you get to do.

So think about that on three terms:

  1. Now
  2. Tomorrow
  3. Future

You know when executives talk about how busy they are and how tough it is to find time to step back and figure out what’s not working and how to fix it? i offer remarkably simple architecture for organizational vibrancy, something i’ve mastered from 30 years at Disney.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Dream or jog? Jog or dream? Grapes of wrath? The boy who cried wolf?

Having a dream and replaced Seth with jeff…the following review was written in 2007 for Seth Godin’s book, ‘The Dip’.

The one possible weakness of this otherwise terrific little volume is that it is aimed solely at people who are creative, intelligent and want to succeed. Those who are mediocre, unmotivated or just coasting through life will probably not get much from jeff. He is not an elitist, but his message is squarely aimed at those who want to succeed or at least achieve excellence.

Dare to dream.

Dare even greater… to do.

The challenge with balance

A recent Seth Godin post revealed he writes three or more posts to get one for publishing. He discards the others.

If you follow Seth (and he comes with the highest recommendation, because he’s brilliant) you know how extraordinarily different he thinks (and writes, and speaks).

And yet in his message – usually uniquely positioned in a way we’ve never thought of – we find ourselves going, “That makes sense”.

The challenge with balance, is that we do not have the luxury of spending three or more days to get one day of great balance.

This, too, makes sense.
