Taking this risk is easy

Apple TV setup
Yesterday. it was easy to set up. Makes you wonder why we waited so long.

Taking this risk is easy.

What risk?

It’s the risky choice between unwanted and life-changing.

And i feel certain you’ll pick one or the other very easily.

Taking risks is risky.

So is playing it safe.

Playing it safe is the biggest risk of all.

The easy choice is a trick.

Both choices are easy to make.

The second one comes with the lifetime requirement to stay motivated to not change your mind.

There’s no way in heck you’ll make it 100 days

wdw today
Yesterday in Epcot’s parking lot. Love how social media technology is part of everyday life at Walt Disney World. Social Media was just a dream when i began blogging in 2008.

April Fools Day 2009 was 3,287 days ago.

No one cares.

i get it.

But it inspires the heck out of me.

And…

Back then, the notion of writing five daily blogs for 100 consecutive days was beyond impossible.

And yet…

And yet i believe if your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough.

Because of that belief, i thought there was a remote possibility i could do 100 days (and 500 posts).

But to think i could go nine consecutive years (3,287 days) without missing a single day is absurd.

Absurd.

Constant 72-hour challenges?

medical appoint reminder card
After 34 years, a dramatic change. Snapped the photo above yesterday as a reminder.

What would life be like if we constantly pushed ourselves to improve?

Scary?

Glorious?

You know that saying?

“Do one thing every day that scares you.”

Father of nudge theory won 2017 economics Noble Peace Prize

wisdom about questions
Taken during yesterday’s college tour.

Richard Thaler, Father of ‘nudge theory’ won a 2017 Noble Peace Prize in economics.

What would happen if our attitude about questions became more important than our traditional focus on answers?

For example, if we rethought our notions about college dormitory bathroom placement, could we increase freshmen retention rates.

We toured a college the past two days that has applied this behavioral science – nudge theory – to their new freshman dorm.

Can you always make a positive reaction your only reaction?

Disney Keynote Speaker
Every day we need to work on our attitude. Keep climbing and be prepared for obstacles, and, breath-taking views.

Sure, it’s worth a lot to your client, but what’s it worth to you?

Status quo is easy to recognize.

It’s the way things are done.

Normal.

No surprises.

It’s what happens when a professional does her job, meets industry standards, and keeps your company’s promise.

But where is the surprise and delight?

You know, the wow-factor.

Extra effort is compelling, and sadly, rare.

It’s only when she rises up and offers more than anyone expects – only then can Magic happen.

The same with your attitude yesterday, today and tomorrow.

To remain positive when normal is the ability to flow in and out of positive and negative, as extraneous daily conditions warrant.

All i’m asking you to consider is this – can you change this belief?

Can you always make a positive reaction your only reaction?
