Life without a deadline

Disney, service, speaker
A note card from Disney University the other day.

Life without a deadline.

Not my cup of tea.

The ten years from age 50 to age 60 catapulted an appreciation for the power of a deadline.

Now that June 8, 2019 has come and gone, life is different.

Glacier revealed to me that i need a new deadline and goal.

So you know everything?

Most of what is important is hidden because of its familiarity and simplicity.

So you know everything?

No.

But i know a lot about what matters and what doesn’t.

Everything comes with a price.

A positive mindset.

A negative mindset.

Over-focus.

Extra inch.

.think .differently

Life’s five big choices.

Envisioning a future that’s not only better than now, but much better than now.

And so on and so forth.

Here’s why i don’t want to tell you

Disney Keynote Speaker jeff noel
If you know the AquaDuck, then you know where this was taken.

If i tell you you’ll never remember.

If i help you figure it out for yourself, you’ll never forget.

It may not work

Disney Institute Keynote Speaker
Incredible news.

We just received word that he’s been accepted to his first college of choice.

He only submitted a college application to one school.

No second choice.

No backup.

Bold.

Committed.

All in.

They say the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.

It’s a bit like leaving Disney and Disney Institute after 30+ years to start your own entrepreneurial business.

Leaving the Company you love for your only desirable option to do what you love with significantly less travel.

The catch?

Odds of succeeding are dishearteningly low for anyone starting a small business.

Ps. It may not work.

Reprise from yesterday’s insight about wisdom and our thoughts

Sanibel sunrise
Every day that you wake up (alive) is an opportunity to do the impossible.

Reprise from yesterday’s insight about wisdom and our thoughts…

•  •  •

Had my first drink at 13 the Summer of 1972.

Somewhere around 18 i went full-time.

At 41, on my third “no, this time i mean it” attempt, i stopped.

Impossible is nothing…

There was no middle ground for me. Every day or not at all. i quit on New Year’s Eve (not New Years Day), the biggest drinking day in the world.

Prior, i promised myself i’d stop if my wife got pregnant. Did well for a little while, but failed.

Made another promise, “When the baby is born.”

Did well for even longer (about 6 months) than the first failure, but failed again.

Then, as our Son was almost 1.5 years old, i decided Dec 30 would be my last drinking day.

That was 2001.

Failure paves the way for success if you want it bad enough.
