Happy New Day

Ordering HomePods
Upper right corner. Awoke at 2:55am to buy at 3:01am (12:01am Cupertino time). Tried unsuccessfully for 20 minutes.

Happy New Day.

Can you hear yourself saying this?

i shoulda.

i coulda.

i woulda.

i’m a simple person.

(ps. you’re still talking to yourself…)

i work hard.

i sacrifice.

My goals are pretty lofty.

A fair amount of my family, friends, and colleagues don’t get why i work so hard.

The goal?

To win.

Win what?

Victory over my old self.

Metamorphisis.

To journey through life, preparing for the next leg.

To do what you need to do today so your tomorrows are better.

We thrive or we survive.

Life is fair in that it is unfair to everyone.

Celebrate.

Go.

The doctor says my time on Earth is limited

inspiring messages
The messenger today is a cardboard tissue box.

The doctor says my time on Earth is limited.

Truth be told, so is yours.

We don’t need a doctor to tell us.

We should be telling ourselves this.

But.

But it’s scary news.

Sure.

But.

But it’s not untrue.

Use this reality to inspire you to live like you mean it.

That’s what i’ve been doing for the past 8.5 years.

Go.

In reality, we don’t need to feel guilty

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – first thing a saw yesterday morning.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – awoke with an idea i had to write down. Stayed up from this point on.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – a moment in real time yesterday.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – early birds and adventurers see things others never will – an empty pool.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – approxiamately 5am.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – minutes from docking at Port Canaveral yesterday morning. No place like home (Florida).

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, the writer was up at 5:00am, writing like she means it.

Being off social media for eight days while sailing on the Disney Fantasy was surprisingly easy.

So much drama.

Just because Facebook gives everyone (us) a microphone doesn’t mean we should use it.

A Facebook Page would make sense.

Then, people could Like your Page and follow your story.

The harsh reality is very few people care about what we have to say.

PS. This post was prompted because i read some Facebook updates a few minutes ago, now that we are back on land and have unlimited wifi.

Maybe i just need to mute some people’s updates. But it doesn’t feel right. Why be connected if you’re not gonna listen?

It is done

It is done.

Finally.

Over the weekend, went back in and re-wrote 200+- blog posts to fill in the calendar count gaps on the five main Mid Life Celebration websites.

Why was there a gap?

When i began blogging in 2008 – and particularly when i began writing five daily, differently-themed posts in April 2009 – Disney and Disney Institute didn’t have a social media policy.

The word on the street was, “Use good judgment”.

Never knowing i’d be blogging past the 100-day self-imposed writer’s bootcamp, i found myself with thousands of posts a few years later.

Eventually, we had an ambiguous (in my opinion) social media policy.

What if a leader subjectively said i crossed a line?

i rewrote many posts and some were too challenging to rewrite so i simply deleted them – roughly 200 posts gone, permanently.

Correcting Word Press calendar post tallies

blog calendar
Word Press calendar. Every month should have a minimum number that matches the number of days in a month.

Writing 200+- blog posts the past 48 hours has been taxing.

But i’ve been motivated to correct a flaw.

The flaw is in the Word Press monthly calendar post tallies.

About 18 months after i began writing five daily, differently-themed posts, i decided to go back and review everything i wrote and did one of three things:

  1. Left the post untouched
  2. Revised the post to remove any sound of Disney or Disney Institute “official voice”
  3. Deleted the post

This was an over-focusing on a worst-case scenario.

Worst case is someone over-reacting to something you made public.

Important to remember in 2008-2011+ blogging was literally the new “wild frontier” – uncharted wilderness.

In the absence of an official Disney and Disney Institute social media policy, everything was up for subjective review.

Subjective is not the way to measure.

By over-focusing, i slept well at night.
