New Year’s Eve 2016

Christmas decorations at Lowes
Yesterday, September 30, 2016 at Lowes.

Today is Saturday, October 1, 2016 as i write this…

Happy 45th birthday Walt Disney World; and Happy 34th birthday Epcot.

And when this post goes public, we’ll be counting down the hours until 2017.

Happy New Year’s Eve.

It’s an interesting juxtaposition to write and post this way.

i love it.

It doesn’t make sense to someone stumbling upon these “five daily, differently-themed blog posts on five different sites, all daisy-chained together”.

It’s kinda fun to do the impossible. – Walt Disney

If your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough. – “The Internet’s only 5-a-day blogger”

Oh, and one more celebration…December 30, 2001 was the last time i drank alcohol.

This means New Year’s Eve 2001 was the first “dry day” in roughly 25 years.

The paradox of being inquisitive

While riding a bicycle to Disney, this thought came. At junglejeff.net today, you’ll see the polished version from more time to think about it.

Our questions proclaim (whether we want them to or not) what we value.

Shallow questions, for example, reveal a shallow mindset. Begging the question, “Why so shallow?”

Deep, thought-provoking (often painful) questions, for example, reveal our mindset too, and invite the question, “Why so much thought and focus?”

It doesn’t matter which we gravitate too, what’s undeniable is how our questions speak to our values, our hopes, and ultimately, to our intentionality in achieving peace and contentment

The Disney Touch – mental

Disney management expert jeff noel
First, Walt Disney invented the trash can style in the photo. Second, he institutionalized the use of basic manners. Who fusses over the word ‘please’ on a trash can?

The Disney Touch.

It ain’t the Magic that makes it work, it’s the work that makes it Magic.

Nothing changes if changes aren’t made.

How bad do you want it?

Simplicity is operational genius.

The basics: Attitude, thoughts, choices.

i wish there would have been a book like this when i was 21

Except from business workbook.

Mid Life Celebration: rethink • reprioritize • recommit is a short book that helped me make sense of my excuses and my regrets, and helped me prepare for the inevitable second chances that often arrive without warning.

i wish a book exactly like this would have been available when i was 21.

For most of us, where we are now is not who we are.

We have hopes and dreams on the back burner.

Can’t wait to read the book for the 31st time.

rethink • reprioritize • recommit

The depth of our feeling blessed is driven by our attitude

The depth of our feeling blessed is driven by our attitude.

It is challenging, powerfully evidenced by last night’s first Presidential debate, to stay positive and feel deeply blessed.

While challenging, it is the essence of great personal (and business) leadership – rise to every occasion that wants to defeat us.

As i exercised yesterday at Disney University and Magic Kingdom, i recalled the time when i hadn’t exercised in years.

i still have the same excuses tempting me daily.

But the desire to be a great leader slays them.

Choices.

Hard, difficult choices in the midst of easy, pleasurable choices.
