First Principles Thinking – irrefutable truth?

Every once in awhile, the Universe offers you a clue that something you came up with on your own is actually something rare, and valuable.

Yesterday’s email included the daily dose of Hugh McLeod at Gaping Void Art.

It was a link in Hugh’s daily message that led to the screen shot coming up…

In the center of the screen shot below is the word-for-word phrase i use to tell others what’s different about my Disney Approach.

Deconstruct then reconstruct.

i’ve spent my life deconstructing Disney’s DNA and reconstructing it in brilliantly simplistic fashion.

This is the way i describe what 30 years at Disney, especially the last 15 teaching at Disney Institute has allowed me to make my life’s work.

First principles thinking is about deconstructing what looks complex and then reconstructing it in a simple breakdown of reality – let’s call it irrefutable truth.

Involvement is a key success factor

Involvement is a key success factor in any endeavor. We get out of something what we put into it.

We reap what we sow.

Sayings and cliches only happen because they have stood the test of time – and have become timeless truth.

Timeless.

Truth.

Bank on it.

Attitude is everything.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

The subtly painful truth about growth

This was a first for the teen, and a second for me.

Yee-haw!

Overcoming is the path to growth.

Little did i know yesterday morning that the day would end with a major personal achievement – overcoming a severe fear. And it had nothing to do with horses.

.

Note to myself for posterity: 08.02 Tuesday breakfast at Many Glacier, Cracker Flats two-hour horseback ride, lunch at Swiftcurrent, relax at Rising Sun, dinner at Logan Pass, Cheryl was not up to hiking Hidden Lake Trail so Chapin and i did the High Line trail entrance. The Highline Trail has always frightened me.

Irrefutable always lives up to it’s reputation

Three years ago this week, a good friend passed away unexpectedly. He was 47, a husband and a dad.

Irrefutable always lives up to it’s reputation.

We are all going to die.

Embracing this everyday, to me, makes living like you mean it a more tangible goal.
