Do you let truth scare or inspire?

Disney Institute speakers
Madison Square Garden Theater, Disney Institute team that delivered Customer Service training for all the game day staff for Super Bowl 48.

Do you let truth scare or inspire?

For example…

To learn from experience you must have different experiences.

But doing things we’ve never done before can be scary.

And…

Doing things we’ve never done before can be exciting.

Moving forward and growing often come with detours and growing pains.

These are gifts to diversify your experiences, which in turn grow your confidence.

What do you want?

Weather app for orlando
Great weather for December. Want great weather, relocate.

blood pressure wrist monitor
Good metric for a 58-year-old with a desk job. Want great health metrics, exercise, nutrition and rest, etc.

hidden Mickey
A workplace that knows how to have fun (Hidden Mickey in bank building lobby). Want to work for a great company, take a risk and start at the bottom.

What do you want?

Do you know?

Have you asked for permission to get it?

Waiting and doing nothing are twin siblings of self-destruction.

Disagreeing with or hating the truth doesn’t change it.

Wishing you the best.

You deserve it.

First Principles Thinking – irrefutable truth?

Every once in awhile, the Universe offers you a clue that something you came up with on your own is actually something rare, and valuable.

Yesterday’s email included the daily dose of Hugh McLeod at Gaping Void Art.

It was a link in Hugh’s daily message that led to the screen shot coming up…

In the center of the screen shot below is the word-for-word phrase i use to tell others what’s different about my Disney Approach.

Deconstruct then reconstruct.

i’ve spent my life deconstructing Disney’s DNA and reconstructing it in brilliantly simplistic fashion.

Disney Keynote Speakers
This is the way i describe what 30 years at Disney, especially the last 15 teaching at Disney Institute has allowed me to make my life’s work.

First principles thinking is about deconstructing what looks complex and then reconstructing it in a simple breakdown of reality – let’s call it irrefutable truth.

Click on the hyperlink in the previous sentence to read more about the concept Aristotle is credited with inventing and Elon Musk is credited for famously applying.

Involvement is a key success factor

High School Cross Country Practice
Involvement on a team is a key success factor in High School. Photo: Six days ago on the first day of the second week, Cross Country practice.

Involvement is a key success factor in any endeavor. We get out of something what we put into it.

We reap what we sow.

Sayings and cliches only happen because they have stood the test of time – and have become timeless truth.

Timeless.

Truth.

Bank on it.

Attitude is everything.

The subtly painful truth about growth

Many Glacier Horseback riding
Obligatory photo. From Rising Sun Motor Inn, head East and you’ll you leave Glacier and can drive North a few miles before re-entering Glacier.

Many Glacier Horseback riding
This was a first for the teen, and a second for me.

Many Glacier Horseback riding
For posterity.

Many Glacier Horseback riding
Yee-haw!

Overcoming is the path to growth.

Little did i know yesterday morning that the day would end with a major personal achievement – overcoming a severe fear. And it had nothing to do with horses.

.

Note to myself for posterity: 08.02 Tuesday breakfast at Many Glacier, Cracker Flats two-hour horseback ride, lunch at Swiftcurrent, relax at Rising Sun, dinner at Logan Pass, Cheryl was not up to hiking Hidden Lake Trail so Chapin and i did the High Line trail entrance. The Highline Trail has always frightened me.
