World class quitter

Red Team is a small think tank. Helped Changing Discourse launch.

At this Disney intersection, pulled bicycle over, opened Cast Block Out Dates app, booked Magic Kingdom reservation. Magic indeed.

Recently dropped off of Changing Discourse’s red team. Another red team member jokingly called me a quitter.

Thinking about it more, began to embrace the joke about being a quitter.

It led to this…

Quit thinking like everyone else.

Quit doing things the way people think it should be done.

Quit being afraid.

Quit waiting and doing nothing.

Like a list of things you are grateful for, there’s literally no end to the things we can and should quit.

It’s easier to quit when we are disappointed

When it comes to shaping our attitude, the long way is the short cut.

Take this blog (and the other four Mid Life Celebration blogs) for example.

Many bloggers begin writing because they believe:

“If you build it write it they will come”.

Everyone who’s ever blogged knows this is a lie.

The bloggers who continue to write (in spite of the lie) well past a reasonable amount of time discover something.

It’s not an audience we write for, we write for ourselves. Because we need the writing. For ourselves.

A writer, probably, will stop writing when she no longer needs it.

You’ll be the first to know.

What happened to us?

Graduate degree in Disney Customer Service

(photo: The opportunities to learn are informal and formal… and endless… to make learning an exciting adventure)

Back to school excitement is in the air.

We used to have it this time of year when we were that age – middle school.

What happened to us?

Never let your memories be bigger than your dreams.

Where would be be if we didn’t quit for a whole decade?

2013 High School yearbook picture quotes
When Philip is 28, what will he have acoomplished that 10 years ago seemed unlikely?

It would be a dream to see society not look at weight as a beauty thing but rather a heath thing.

The whole point of exercising is to support and nourish all the vital organs that keep us alive.

The point of earning and managing money isn’t to get rich, it’s to be able to function without financial assistance from others.

The point of spiritual awakening and growth, isn’t to be a saint, it’s to be at a place where we can serve others before self. If we can’t feed 100, feed one.

The point of being organized isn’t to win a better Homes and Gardens feature, it’s to manage our things and be able to find things them we need to. And to not be burdened with their care and security.

The point of our attitude isn’t to be Pollyanna, it’s to simply be able to handle the never ending onslaught of life’s challenges that will either force us to live as survivors or thrivers.

Keep moving forward. Imagine us making a decade worth of progress, in any area of our life – it can do nothing but astonish the determined, focused, and disciplined warrior.
