Take everything we own

woman on a loading dock with boxes
August, 1984. Clothes. Personal effects. Kitchen stuff. No furniture. No appliances. We were leaving a Washington State University Residence Hall. Residence Hall Director, Cheryl, pictured here. It was a fully furnished and stocked apartment.

Take everything we own, to Orlando, Florida.

That’s what we paid for. Because that’s what we needed.

We didn’t have much, yet our growth-mindset whispered, “You have it all.”

Five big goodbyes

Five big goodbyes:

  1. Disney
  2. Blogging
  3. Glacier
  4. Work
  5. Family

Perhaps those five goodbyes are serendipitously chronological?

The paradoxical key

Right in front of me, 15-feet up.
Dead center in this photo is the content from the previous photo. Taken last night from a sitting area.

The paradoxical key to a peaceful life is to slow down.

Slow down to speed up.

How to slow down has been a decades-long priority for me.

Speed isn’t the issue.

Too much to do is.

So?

Don’t have too much to do.

It could be worse

Christmas tree in the living room
December 24, 2024.

Christmas is glorious for some, painful for some, and a non-event for some.

It’s helpful to not only remember this at Christmas but every day of the year.

A well established growth mindset is a glorious gift you give yourself.

Pretend to be normal, mind

i could pretend to be normal.

But what does normal mean?

Normal to me, by my definition of normal, is boring. Normal is what most do. Acceptable. Herd mentality. No harm, no foul.

What does pretend mean?

Pretend to me is social media: Facebook, IG, even YouTube. Pretend is dreaming but playing life safe.
