Merry Christmas

Simple. Unique, because we are waking up Christmas morning (today) on Sanibel Island. Photo: yesterday.

Merry Christmas 2019.

Up at 3:00 AM, and now at 4:00 AM, this post is being written.

Up early because the inexplicable excitement for Christmas Day.

So much unassuming goodness.

We haven’t seen a single traditional sunrise or sunset in seven days and seven nights.

Traditional is defined as a big orange ball clearly seen rising from or sinking below the horizon.

Perhaps this eighth morning at 7:13 AM.

‘Twas the night before Christmas

Yesterday on Sanibel Island.

‘Twas the night before Christmas.

First time on an island on Christmas Eve.

Unusual circumstances aligned to place us here.

Perhaps one of the biggest gifts was unwrapped yesterday morning.

How the Universe could orchestrate such a wonderful gift is miraculous.

Up to this point in the explanation, i’ve been focused on the first miracle, but there’s a second miracle that coincides with today, Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas, thank you Christmas for being an annual part of my life

fosbury flop statue
Fosbury flop. Screenshot from Twitter yesterday (Oct 24). The University of Oregon revealed this statue yesterday.

Why the Fosbury video?

Because Twitter planted a seed yesterday.

And the seed grew into a thought about being a pioneer.

Pioneers change things.

Maybe the way i think about death (and the 10-year plan) is pioneering.

Time will tell.

And no, i didn’t do it to pioneer anything.

Dick Fosbury didn’t either.

Dick was simply looking for a way to not be the worst high jumper on his High School team.

And i simply don’t want to die with regret. i plan to die with peace and contentment. Peace with who i am. Content with what i have.

Merry Christmas, thank you Christmas for being an annual part of my life.

According to my 10-year plan, this is my final Christmas.

i’m at peace with having such a non-conforming approach to life.

The critics, and there are always critics, used to be people i worried about what they would think of me.

Maybe 3-5 years ago i started asking, “Why?”

Well, for starters, some of them are family and friends.

People i’ve known a lifetime.

To this unnecessary worry, i’ve surrendered.

Free at last.

Thank God almighty, i’m free at last. (ht MLK)

Note: ht = hat tip.

‘Twas the night before Christmas (2018)

discomfort
No one has to believe this. And for some, it’s all they believe. Not only is it the price, it’s the path. It’s so beautiful.

‘Twas the night before Christmas (2018).

Will this be my final Christmas Eve?

Note: i write this post 60 days before this goes live. Not only could this be my final Christmas Eve, it could also be my final October 24th.

.think .differently means something only if i do it.

Fly from Sanford, Florida to Allentown

Disney Construction company
Three miles into yesterday’s bike ride through Walt Disney World.

Texted this photo to a CEO yesterday while on a 15-mile bike ride through Walt Disney World, reminding her she is her organization’s chief cultural architect.

Merry Christmas.

We arrived in Allentown, Pennsylvania an hour ago (9am) and i’m writing from my mother-in-law’s apartment. Disney Christmas parade on TV in the background.
