Only 3 weeks until new writing milestone

Prolific blogging
365 x 8 years = 2920…add 2 leap year days = 2922 days in a row.

Only 3 weeks until new writing milestone.

The 8th year concludes.

The 9th year begins.

That fateful April Fools Day in 2009…

Write five different blogs every day for 100 consecutive days.

Impossible i thought, but what the heck, think BIG.

Was literally certain i would fail.

i should probably celebrate with something extra-ordinary

Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay
Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay – staying in great hotels never got old.

Great Disney leaders take time to deliver personalized recognition, meaning that they need to know how each employee likes to be recognized, and honor that – versus traditional cookie-cutter  programs.

i should probably celebrate with something extra-ordinary.

Why?

Because today’s five posts complete the seventh consecutive year of of daily writing on five differently-themed websites.

Why five sites?

  1. Mind – we think
  2. Body – we move
  3. Spirit – we feel
  4. Money – we earn
  5. HQ – we dwell

Balance.

After a lifetime at Disney unsuccessfully searching internally for a role model for balance, i had the aha moment of a lifetime…

Wake up jeff, quit looking. Become the change you seek.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Good morning mind blowing thought

The Lakeland Center
Five in the foreground, two in the center. Five blogs a day for the two most important people in my life.

That feeling when you wake up and realize you are one month away from something that blows your mind.

And you realize that what you began seven years prior has lasted.

And it lasted because, well, you have no idea why.

Except maybe because you had had enough negative self-talk and decided to burn the ships.

PS. No one is immune from negative self-talk, not even the most positive people you know.

Orlando Sanford Airport
Yesterday.

Waking up in Allentown this morning, October 17 is a privilege. And knowing what i write right now will post on January 25 is a cool way to experience a milestone moment several times over.

On January 25, 1982 my life path began to change even though I had no clue.

Arriving in Orlando (from Pennsylvania) on January 24, 1982, my first day at Walt Disney World was the very next day and it was called Disney Traditions. Otherwise known as new employee orientation.

Knowing that i can now (since retiring from Disney) work from anywhere is also a milestone.

Writing is a cool way to simultaneously live in multiple moments: the past, present, and future.

i am a (midlife) fool, plain and simple

i am a (midlife) fool, plain and simple.

So on April Fool’s Day 2009, i began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs as part of a self-imposed 100-day writer’s bootcamp.

On day 101, i had the guilt-free option to stop.

i didn’t.

And havn’t missed a single day.

Ever.

At a loss to explain why, except maybe this, it has profoundly changed me.

This train of thought continues with “i am unhealthy” at the next Blog
