In reality, we don’t need to feel guilty

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – first thing a saw yesterday morning.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – awoke with an idea i had to write down. Stayed up from this point on.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – a moment in real time yesterday.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – early birds and adventurers see things others never will – an empty pool.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – approxiamately 5am.

Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise – minutes from docking at Port Canaveral yesterday morning. No place like home (Florida).

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, the writer was up at 5:00am, writing like she means it.

Being off social media for eight days while sailing on the Disney Fantasy was surprisingly easy.

So much drama.

Just because Facebook gives everyone (us) a microphone doesn’t mean we should use it.

A Facebook Page would make sense.

Then, people could Like your Page and follow your story.

The harsh reality is very few people care about what we have to say.

PS. This post was prompted because i read some Facebook updates a few minutes ago, now that we are back on land and have unlimited wifi.

Maybe i just need to mute some people’s updates. But it doesn’t feel right. Why be connected if you’re not gonna listen?

What drives the speed of life?

Disney Customer Service Speaker
These giant wall art pieces used to hang in every Guest room (1052 total) at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This one hangs in our garage. Bought it for $5.00,  30 years ago. Wow, time flies.

Our days fly by.

The seed of this speed is how we think about our mornings.

The fruit of this speed is how we spend our mornings.

Our seed’s DNA carries high intentionality or low intentionality.

And how we spend our mornings is driven by how we spend our nights.

For example, going to bed at 9:00 PM, getting eight hours sleep and excited to wake up to the reward of two hours of self-reflection, prayer, meditation, reading, writing, preparing breakfast, etc.

Walt Disney and Roy Disney were diametrically opposed on profit

Walt Disney Blue name tag

Walt Disney and his older brother Roy had the same critical business vision, profit, yet their unique approaches where polar opposites.

Roy Disney saw profit as the goal.

Walt saw it as the reward.

Our attitude about life is similar.

We spend so much time working for a living.

Do we live to work, or work to live?

Do we measure our success by our paycheck or by our happiness?

A 10-year plan seemed absurd at first

My first thought was they probably lost a bet.

Truth.

A 10-year plan seemed absurd at first.

We’re all familiar with this scenario:

What would you do if you had only six months to live?

After 30 years at Disney, my mind has been trained to .think .differently

What would you do if you had only 10 years to live?

A question like this changes everything and hands us (on a silver platter) a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to transform our weak and worried soul.

In just three days, i’m “down to” three years remaining.

Would this one thing make me happy?

What if i was doing what i loved?

Would that make me happier?

How does one figure out what one loves to do?

And how long should one keep searching?
