No words after yesterday’s Orlando Pulse tragedy

Twenty-four hours ago, i woke up, just like i did a few minutes ago at 5am.

Like everyday.

And like every morning, i checked in on Twitter and this Tweet was the first one i saw…i only read the top part that says, “multiple injuries”…didn’t catch that the shooter was dead…

Then before leaving for Church this one…not sure what mass casualty means…

After Mass, this one…

Then we turned on the tv at home and learn 20 people died…OMG…

8am

And then, to make this all worse than our worst nightmare ever…

Then, at the YuGiOh tournament in Kissimmee, this one…

May we all pause, think, cry, mourn, think some more, pray…and hope for some Heavenly miracle to reign down on humanity.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

This website is about our mental attitude. To easily and safely leave this site to read today’s post on jeff’s physical health website, click here.

Finding it hard to breathe becomes status quo

Yesterday a 9th grader needed this on his phone. i got it too.

It’s simply easier to do scary things than it is to think about doing scary things, even though it seems backwards.

The emotional burden and drag on our attitude is insidiously heavy when we carry around unfulfilled and untried ideas.

Rather try and fail than play it safe.

Playing it safe leads to regrets.

Regrets that we discount and amass to the point of suffocation?

Who’s writing my story?

Yesterday on high school tour. Mickey is tattooed on my heart.

Who’s writing my story?

It’s a question that changed my life in 2008/09.

This was the timeframe that an unusually weird Disney layoff provided the gift of feeling vulnerable for the first time (at the time, i was in my 24th year at Disney).

This was the catalyst for creating a Plan B even though the layoffs were done.

The best time to worry about your next job is when you don’t need to.

My next job revolved around the dream of being the captain of my own ship – a solo entrepreneur. To take everything i learned in 30 years at Disney and retire at 55 and begin the quest to put a dent in our Universe.

PS. Unusually weird means that the process didn’t make sense to me, nor to literally all of my colleagues.

What if you couldn’t recall the last time it happened?

Today is the 2,329th consecutive day of writing five different blogs.

Can you recall the last morning where you were dreading waking up?

What if you couldn’t?

i cannot recall the last time i wasn’t looking forward to the day ahead with childlike entreprenurial excitement.

There used to be a time (15 consecutive years, 1984 – 1999) when it took three separate alarm clocks (none with the real time, and all with extra time added to the actual time) to wake me up – after numerous, repetitive hitting of the snooze buttons.

August 3, 2015

Podiatrist office patient chair
Yesterday morning, discussing someone else’s options.

August 3, 2015 (yesterday).

This is the day a Baby Boomer did three things on the journey to authenticity:

rethink  •  reprioritize  •  recommit

i witnessed the first day which was yesterday.

It will change this person from surviving (like the Herd) to thriving (like the Movement).

Being authentic begins and ends with the person in our mirror.

Authenticity has nothing to do with what others think.

Only a wake up call is powerful enough to get our serious attention.

But it may not be enough. Time will tell.
