It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it

It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it.

And how you do it is driven by why?

Do you know your why?

Why you do something is the only way to become an artist.

Can you pin point the moment everything changed for you?

Starting with why came into my life 1999, at age 40.

In 1999 i suddenly found myself in a new career (but still with the same company, Disney) as a professional speaker at Disney Institute.

It was never a dream to become a speaker.

In fact, i was deathly afraid of not being able to measure up.

Ultimately, 15 years later, annual statistics revealed what i never knew – Guest Satisfaction Measurement (GSM) scores showed all Facilitator rankings in 10 categories.

In any measurement survey, someone or something will score the highest overall.

The best Summer ever?

Sounds pretty darn lofty. Maybe too lofty.

Maybe next Summer, right?

But why not this Summer?

Some of us haven’t thought about this all year.

It’s March 4 as i wrote this (100 days before it goes live on June 12).

i’m already thinking about it.

In fact, started thinking about it last year.

Why?

Because, what i’ve learned from a lifetime at Disney, we get better results when we over-focus on the same things others (especially our old self) under-focus on or ignore.
