Should this move the needle on our personal satisfaction?

Apple Store Mall at Millenia
Apple Store Mall at Millenia. Yesterday. Is technology making us satisfied?

Does the proliferation of free quotes, insights, inspiration, real-life triumph stories – do any of these things move our needle for personal growth?

And is our growth enough to leave us feeling much more satisfied with our life?

i find this an exceptionally interesting question.

Why?

Because i don’t think it’s enough to transform a human being.

What?

i mean, all this stuff, all it does is medicate, distract, and entertain us.

Simple gets over run by two never-ending tasks

Sanibel Island Sunset
First photo of yesterday’s Sanibel sunset.

The photo above was taken about half an hour before sunset.

As we age, and get further along in our career, many of the simple things that used to fill us with awe and wonder are replaced with deadlines and decisions.

Going to the beach is the mental equivalent to going to the hospital emergency room.

Today and tomorrow are especially big days

Panera Bread pastry display
Yesterday morning’s meeting at Panera Bread. Just because it’s front and center, doesn’t mean we should eat it.

Today and tomorrow are especially big days.

Do you ever categorize your days or rate them on a scale of importance?

Maybe on certain big days, right? But not everyday. No one does that. Do they?

Often, we are on auto-pilot. Going through the motions. It’s just easier to adopt the societal norms.

Here’s the paradox though, what should be normal rarely is.

Why?

Because its too much work. Too much focus. Too much discipline.

Really?

Yes.

A clear, concise, and compelling goal – with a deadline – is the key to being fully alive day in and day out.

That should be the norm.

Are we or should we be fighting back?

Catholic Mass Holy Family Orlando
Does humility make the greatest leaders?

Don’t give up, even though it seems like the overwhelmingly logical choice.

The source of our insidiously deep incongruance comes from:

  • Mismanaged priorities
  • Expecting someone else to change first

We wait and do nothing.

Because we are simply overwhelmed.

As the CEO of You, Inc, it’s your job to be successful.

i refuse to live like this anymore

Amelia Erhart quote
Facebook screen shot yesterday.

Here we go, it’s another Monday morning and most of us barely, if at all, have ourselves centered before we rush out the door to begin another long day of rush, rush, rush.

What becomes the catalytic moment in our lives when our attitude tells us (to promise) to stop the rat race?

What is that moment that causes us to commit to changing everything?

And how long does this, “I refuse to live like this anymore” commitment last?

If it were as easy as Amelia Earhart says, we wouldn’t be thinking about this now.
