It begs us to watch even though we don’t have time…

Sitting here in Saskatoon’s Hotel Bessborough stumbled upon this short Steve Jobs video speech.

It begs us to watch even though we don’t have time…

Peace and contentment come from one place.

Balance.

The book written for a young child contains the same message as Steve Jobs, but was written without the eminent, fast approaching reality of death.

That’s what makes the book special.

There was no pressure to write it.

None.

And the author added a little more peace and contentment to his life.

This is how it goes.

If Steve Jobs were to say there are no shortcuts, we’d all shake our heads ‘yes’.

When you hear it here instead?

Whatever! Right?

Wishing you peace and contentment immeasurable.

Been working to eliminate these four words?

Lane8.org old website design
Such simple beginnings, yet always striving to get better. Clicking Next Blog (below) takes you there.

The past few months, maybe longer, have been working to eliminate these words:

  • i
  • me
  • my
  • mine

Why?

Either a mystery or a conscious realization these four words are innocently yet completely self-centered.

Dear readers (and especially Donna), slow and steady wins the race

Farm covered in snow
Trading 80 degrees for 8 degrees for the next four days

Was asked yesterday why the cryptic nature of some posts?

This created a moment of pause and reflection. You know the kind.

When mystery is intentional, it is called out specifically, when it is unintentional it could be because:

  • the writer is playing it safe (better safe than sorry – a motto or a way of life?)
  • the author is talking to himself (knowing we all have similar thoughts) (be patient, please)
  • the author embraces the painfully slow process of transformation
  • it’s kind of fun to do the impossible

In hearing, we never remember, in discovering it ourselves, we never forget.

Look for the bright spot because there is always a bright spot

Disney's Contemporary Resort
Official address says Orlando, but WDW is closer and more accurate

Ever find yourself finally ready to do something you normally do first thing in the morning… and it’s actually time for bed?

Once in a blue moon, blogging is like that.

Why so late today?

Heading out to Edmonton, Alberta tomorrow at 6am. Much to my surprise this morning before the sun came up, discovered (miraculously) the destination is actually Saskatoon.

A three hour detour to rearrange flights and hotel (business moves slower on a Sunday morning).

All fixed. Even an airfare credit.

In the moment the mantra was, Thank goodness this was caught in Orlando and not in Edmonton.

Bright spot!

What would it be like to build a startup from nothing?

What would it be like to build a startup from nothing?

Last night was the first book club featuring Mid Life Celebration: rethink • reprioritize • recommit.

Hosted by Monica Flanagin Decker in her Valparaiso, Indiana home.

As Monica posted a Facebook update, her friend in South Carolina asked what all the buzz was about.

Then and there Monica convinced her friend to start a book club too, and feature Mid Life Celebration as their first book.

The rest of last night’s story continues at the…
