A Balanced Birthday?

Thursday was our Son’s 10th birthday.

Normally, Cheryl organizes all the presents.

Being on vacation this week with the new puppy, I had time to put some thought into his gift bag, and he received a balanced set of presents.

  • Mind: Book
  • Body: Vitamins
  • Spirit: Letters To God (dvd)
  • Money: Cash
  • HQ: Phone

Call it crazy, or brilliant, or weird, it doesn’t matter.

You know what matters?

No seriously, do you know what matters?

Because in the end, it comes down to what we do before we die.

Now I Get It

Always Be Prepared For "Bad" News
Always Be Prepared For "Bad" News

Was being helped the other day by someone who knows what I do (The Blog Whisperer) and she told me she finally gets it.

She shared that her Dad (71) was just diagnosed with cancer.

No warning signs.

Obviously, everyone hopes his cancer can be beaten, but this early in the game, no one can say for sure.

Suddenly, Living, before you die, takes on a whole new, and precious meaning.

Live, before you die. Now do you get it?

Mid Life Insight

Do you know what insight really means?

We should have a ton of it by mid life.

Webster’s dictionary defines insight as: The ability to see and understand clearly the inner nature of things, especially by intuition.

The time to worry about a hurricane is when you don’t have to.

The best time to look for a job is when you don’t need to.

The best time to prepare for retirement, is when you don’t need to.

Hurricane Season Is Like Midlife

Florida State Tree

Stormy weather. Most of the time we get advanced notice. Earthquakes, tornadoes and flash floods are exceptions.

Every year in Florida and all along the southern region, we are advised to check our hurricane preparedness.

There really is no excuse for not being prepared.

Well there are a ton of excuses. I get that.

Same with midlife.

It’s stormy weather for many people.

We should see it coming, and maybe we do. But, so predictably, we ignore it.

Looking forward to the tree service coming this morning to provide a “hurricane cut” for 30 palm trees.
